We stayed at the Blue Blay Grand Esmeralda for about 1 week and it was definitely a great experience. I have previously stayed at 2 other inclusives in Punta Cana and El Salvador and this one was just as great. Of course when you go to an all inclusive its not going to be all catered to you so I think thats why people are so critical with their comments. Its an overall great place for everyone (Families, couples, honeymooners, etc.) If you are one of those really critical people, then this probably wont be for you because the food is more mediocre but since Im not picky and I will mostly anything its great. Their nice restaurants however are really good for the most part.
Only 2 complaints I had about the hotel was that 1) They ended up giving us a room with 2 twin beds instead of the king size that we requested and overall it was fine we made it work, and then ended up coming to our room to push the beds together but it was fine for the most part. 2) The beach as most reviews say was not all that nice and that part was true but I didnt mind it I stayed by the pool mostly anyways and went to the beaches in Xel-Ha
Ocean Maya exceeded my expectations. From the staff, to the food, to the location, to the daily activities, to the night time entertainment, this was an amazing get away. My husband and I walked the beach on both sides of the resort and by far Ocean Maya was hands down, the best resort. I will definitely go back and will recommend it to anyone traveling to Mexico.
Everything from the welcome when we arrived and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff were all terrific. Food was very good as were facilities. Evening entertainment was fair at best but otherwise the resort was top notch.
Great hotel with amazing service. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The staff takes in this hotel is immediately clear. We really appreciated being able to learn about and enjoy how the hotel has been carefully built in a manner as to preserve the natural ecosystem. Rooms were great with a spacious courtyard just like the pictures. We've never been to a hotel that was so quiet. Food was excellent with many choices.
Stayed at the Zen resort. Great welcoming environment. Relaxing. pampered. Spa too expensive for what they offer, though. Excellent restaurants, although food somewhat scant in some of them (Piaff and, De Autor). Quality of drinks intermediate. Beaches resorts with excellent infinity pool and wet bar. Azul and Lucca best places to eat. Watch out at Piaf restaurant with sommelier trying to have you choose from an expensive list of wines not included in the "all inclusive". "All inclusive" should also include spa serpvices for more moderate prices or a try for free. Quality of "de la casa" wines and Caba (champagne) pretty low.
Overall great experience for reconnecting with significant other. Very satisfactory place to spend a week.
we went for our honeymoon and it was an awesome experience. we have stayed in several different all inclusive hotels in the cancun area and this was by far the best. the food was the best we have ever had for it being all inclusive. the food is pretty Americanized, which we liked. all the restaurants were good. the best was hacienda, the Mexican restaurant. our least favorite was mamma Mia, the Italian restaurant. the staff is very friendly and do whatever they can to make you happy. it is totally worth it to pay the extra money for the deluxe suite with pool access! we could swim right off our balcony and swim up to the swim up bar in 60 seconds, the best part of the trip by far was the private pool access!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
You'll be greeted with smiling faces eager to accommodate, without seeming to be looking for a tip. Room was picture perfect. Had an issue with shower drainage but was placed right away in another suit with an even better view. Swim out patio was very cool, but being end of October the water was quite brisk. Very respectable drink/spirit selection... (Except sparkling wine, no bueno). Bar and lounge staff friendly and usually remembered our frequented drinks!
The food was just terrific. My wife and I have done 'all inclusive' many times and this was the best. Themed restaurants weren't trying to be like something, they seemed pretty legit. Great steak at Rodeo, talented and entertaining chefs at Tao. Even buffet wasn't trying to cram a million items in, like other resorts, sacrificing quality. There was ample selection and nothing I found lacking.
