Exceptional service all around! All facilities were well maintained. Our family was very impressed with the restaurants! One of the best steaks we have had in a while at Tauro. The property is a great escape for families who seek luxury accommodations.

5 ladies (2rooms), we had a wonderful trip and loved the resort and overall property. Excellent food! Wonderful, friendly staff! It is so nice that bikes, boat rides, paddle boards and more are included!

We have stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba six or seven times over the years. Unfortunately, after our most recent experiences, we have reached the point where we are very unlikely to return. This is particularly disappointing because there is a lot to like about the property. The resort itself is beautiful, very well maintained, and the staff is consistently well trained, attentive and genuinely helpful. Our criticism is not directed at the hotel team or the property itself. The problem is the food ā€” and, more specifically, the increasingly unacceptable relationship between food quality and price. Charging more than US$50 per person for a mediocre breakfast buffet is difficult to justify, even at a luxury resort. Charging approximately US$105 for a steak at Fuego would be acceptable if the quality were exceptional. In our case, it was quite simply inedible. Tauro is supposed to be the resort's premium steakhouse, yet the steaks we have had there were average at best, while the prices are firmly in the super-premium category. The same problem applies to in-room dining: very high prices combined with food quality that is simply not appropriate for a hotel of this standard. We have no problem paying premium prices for premium quality. What we do have a problem with is paying exceptional prices for mediocre ā€” and in some cases genuinely poor ā€” food.
