"We stayed for 9 nights and there was not a day without some kind of mistake or misunderstanding. The staff is very very polite and friendly, but they lack professionalism and training. Some servers in the restaurants don’t speak very good English, so that can be an area of improvement. The overall impression is that the whole operation is out of tune. Strong management and review of all aspects of operations is recommended. Alila is not on par with the rest of the Mayakoba hotels."

"Infested with raccoons . Repairs done during the day and we were t told in advance of the trip or anytime of check in that that side of the property the bridge would be under repair. Buffet closed for dinner at least 4 of the 7 nights we were there and was to be closed for dinner the day we were leaving as well . Raccoons enter restaurant where we were eating roaming between your feet or jumping onto the table waiters just shooed them away but don’t close the doors to keep them out ! I have traveled to Mexico at least 15 times in my life and this is the only resort I have ever been anywhere in the Caribbean with infestation of raccoons . Don’t get me started on the sargassum which not only we were not warned about before booking a beachfront hotel, no effort to clean was made and smells coming from it was like a sewer ! Also we couldn’t use any watersport amenities because of sargassum. Our room was not cleaned til after 5pm on more than one occasion even after complaining !"
