Charming and comfortable hotel in a walkable neighborhood. Lovely garden. Really nice kitchen, so you can cook if you like. Staff went above and beyond to help me with a few problems related to my stay in Auckland.
Rooms are so tiny that you will have to step over your suitcase to get to the bathroom. The house is pretty and the shared kitchen and garden are a big plus. The ad said there was parking but when we arrived there was no information about where that parking might be so we had to park on the street for $44/day.

We loved the building and location! (Try for room #9 or #5 for city views). Classic old well maintained inn.
Not much of a staff presence but we managed well.
This is a lovely B&B with a delightful garden and a nice big kitchen. The owner came by in the morning to say hello and check if we were all set. I highly recommend Ponsonby Manor!!
A gem in the middle of Ponsonby. I loved the old manor house. The grounds were impeccable with beautiful gardens and numerous spots to sit and relax in the back gardens. Our room was well equipped with excellent bedding. Parking is a challenge so plan accordingly.
Beautiful setting with lots of trees and singing birds. Very nice owner who prepared a delicious afternoon ‘tea’ for us when we arrived as we hadn’t had lunch!
Beautiful old house in a fancy area of Auckland. Stunning views of the city and sky tower. Off street parking, many dining options right on Ponsonby street.
I have stayed at Ponsonby Manor several times under the previous ownership. This was my first time under the new ownership and it was as warm and welcoming as before. I was very grateful to get a last minute booking as my scheduled booking has to cancel due to street flooding in the area.
This neat Guest House ie really cute with a neat front yard area and a balcony that we spent a lot of time on on account of the unprecedented rainfall. The room was small but very nice with a bathroom sink the size of my wife's thimble. We loved staying the 4 days and would strongly recommend this Manor House.
1) We arrived at the guest house at 1.30pmand checked with the host if our room is available? She said no and even guessed our name incorrectly (she was not preparing to welcome guest) We said the email advised that it was ready at 12 o’clock she checked and said oh it is ready (Not impress at first sight).
2) We carried our own food and and wanted to put them in the fridge but one of them was so full so we turned the other fridge on to put our food in. Suddenly she appeared at the kitchen and demanded us that we must immediately turned the fridge off and squashed our stuff into the other fridge (She was very rude the way she spoke and there was not any sign on the fridge suggesting guest not to use). We suggested her that she should leave us instructions so we know but she was so rude and said that it never happen and she does not need to do it. I advised her that every guesthouse/hotel/motel wherever we go there are always instructions and notes for guest (she was not friendly and rude about that)
3) We cooked and she came to the kitchen and complained to make us so uncomfortable.
4) our room was stuffy and smelly and she prepared towels and toiletries for 2 instead of 4 (it was very unorganised )
We would not ever want to comeback to Ponsonby Manor Guest House again. The manor of the host was really bad and she was rude . We do not expected to be treated this way.
Great location, quiet and the room really suited our 4 person family (2 adults, 2 kids). Great check in experience and great to have the full kitchen facilities at our disposal. Only downside was that the shower was a bit tired and the shower head kept 'drooping' (i.e. didn't always stand up on its own) - we could manage around it though.
Absolutely gorgeous and perfect location - facilities and staff amazing and beautiful cafe directly across the road

Attractive premises and very clean. No reception, no parking and no clear communication about it until I arrived. The cleaner was on her own and left to deal with my disappointment.
Be aware that the onsite parking is a maybe there is a space behind the bottleshop. Otherwise, lovely place, very convenient for restaurants/shopping and downtown is an easy bus ride away (or you could walk).
There's no reception but the staff are there, so checking in was easy.
Provides a relaxed but high quality base for visits to central Auckland.

Amazing old building in the heart of Ponsonby.
Location is exceptional, parking is next door in the church. I did find stuff falling to floor in the bathroom from the ceiling. Not bugs just some black stuff in a couple of places. Bed wasn't as comfy as it looked as it was 2 single joined together. My room had a tree outside with fairy lights wrapped around it. Pretty bright all night and for someone that needs complete dark it was difficult setting the curtains right. Aircon works well.
