Very friendly, helpful owner. I appreciate the help Bryan gave me with my hairdryer. Large room with over-sized love seat and chair for extra seating. Nice to have a desk in the room. Was very surprised to learn that our room shared the kitchenette space and bathroom facilities with another room. It was good that the shower was in a separate room from the toilet, but that was not clear in the description on Expedia (I have registered my complaint with them) as you had to check the description of each room to see that only one had a "private bathroom". It was problematic to have 4 people share access to the toilet one morning. This was the only one of the 11 properties we used in NZ that did not have an electric water kettle for our own use in our room and so had to dress before morning coffee/tea. We were asked to wash our own dishes and had to pre-wash some things before use as they were dirty in the drawer. Breakfast food was a nice assortment but could use more protein (e.g., peanut butter for toast or yogurt). Lovely gardens and had parking.

We were very surprised on arrival to be shown a room with no self- contained bathroom. We shared a toilet and shower room with another room. Both of these could have been cleaner, though the shower was very nice, plenty of hot water. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. Very nice firm bed. The entrance way floor was very dirty. Kitchen area was ok. Continental breakfast was acceptable.

Dear Julie, Thank you for your kind review and feedback. Truly appreciate that. I'm sure you're not aware that the room that you booked was meant to have a shared toilet and bathroom with another room. It was being stated in our room description. Yes, sorry to have quite a dirty front entrance during your 1 night stay. It happened to be a bad thunderstorm and we had strong wind that blew the garden debris and trapped on the entrance floor mate. Our sincere apology for that. I'm sure you and your daughter must have a wonderful holiday in NZ. Thank you once again.

Overall, the hosts were perfectly nice, though everything felt a bit impersonal and more like a high-end hostel than like a B and B. The room felt like a converted office and didn't have much light. The breakfast was also pretty mixed. Food was left out the night before. Usually consisted of toast, cereal, and something else that rotated each day. Butter was a bit off and it looked like there were dead bugs in the sugar.

Thank you for your kind review Graham n I'm sure you n Sophia must have safely arrived home sweet home. Lovely having both of you with us n sorry that due to the Pandemic, we've changed our system of preparing breakfast and no longer having breakfast together with our guests. We missed that alot but it's for the safety of both party. The butter is not off as we specially cut it into small pcs individually so that it is easy to spread esp during Winter. I'm pretty sure you were aware that we only serve Continental breakfast. Once again, thank you.

We felt the web photos were better than the product. I can’t remember mention that we would have to share the bathroom facilities with another room/s. All the furniture and bathroom fit out needs renovation but to be fair they are reflective of the age and presentation of the dwelling. The host though was most pleasant.

Thank you for your time in providing us with a review. It was quite unfortunate to know that you were not pleased with the hard bed n wafer thin pillows during your night stay with us. As it is, the Super king bed was very much liked by most of our guests from their feedback that we received. Also, the pillows are standard quality pillows n we never had wafer thin pillow being provided to our guests. We do mentioned about the shared bathroom n toilet in our room facility description. And they are shared between 2 occupants only.

Amazing hosts and hospitality, clean facilities and pleasant sitting rooms / social areas, extensive breakfast spread and lots of local recommendations. We were very happy with our stay here. The location is a bit far from downtown Auckland (30 mins driving) but great if one prefers quieter suburbs for a relaxing stay.
