"Great breakfast, comfy bed "

"This was my 4th stay at The Clayton, as always it was perfect. Had an evening meal the night before I flew on holiday and also stayed the evening I came back. The evening meal was really lovely, especially the soup. My room was comfortable and clean and well stocked, the bed was very comfortable. On my return after my holiday I checked in approx 10pm. Yet again the room was comfortable, but I did notice that some of the drinks server's spent quite a bit of time on their phones, no one came to ask if I wanted a drink, I had to go to the bar and ask, it wasn't busy in fact it was pretty quiet. The breakfast is buffet style and was lovely, with juice, coffee, tea, bacon etc. I have already booked to stay again in October and I will be booking again to stay again next March, I won't stay anywhere else. And also a big shout out to the shuttle drivers who heave our heavy cases with a smile. Thank you Clayton Hotel staff, you make my stay pleasurable. "

"Lovely welcome at reception. Family cabin room was very spacious. Food in restaurant was great, lovely staff. Bar with pool table and great range of cocktails etc Happy hour 2 for 1 great value. Less than 5 minutes walk from Lime Street Station. Parking available too. Excellent would stay again."

"We had booked what we thought was a higher end hotel, well we paid a higher price for our twin room. The first room we were given was room 116 and was tiny, the window started about 7 feet up and so had no view or air in the room. The bed frames were frayed and very dated. The walls and very high ceiling looked like it had previous damp. We were moved to another room 516, equally small but had a window to let some air in as it was so hot. All facilities were basic and tired. The breakfast was mass presumed, for a hotel this size there could have been fresh coffee, not out of machine. There was plenty of choice but all very basic, cheap ingredients and the cooked breakfast was obviously massed cooked and lacked the finish to make it a good breakfast (over fried hash browns, dry sausage and black pudding, weird half fried half poached egg) The grand lounge was indeed grand, the wine in the bar was good value £24 for a bottle of NZ Sauvignon. It felt to me like a very budget hotel with high ceilings and a few chandeliers. I would not recommend here which is a shame as this could be an excellent hotel. "
