Excellent hotel in a marvellous setting. We had a lovely room booked for a 25th Wedding Anniversary lunch overlooking the terrace and the food and friendly service from hotel staff was of a very high standard. Our room was made available earlier than the official check in time by the hotel reception and was very well appointed and comfortable. We also had dinner in the restaurant which has a Japanese orientated menu. Again the authentic food was excellent and reminded us of several years spent in Japan. The staff in all departments could not do more to help make our stay enjoyable.

Nice grounds, but rooms are not worth the price.Posted 04/10/2015
Pros: The hotel staff are very nice, professional. The grounds are beautiful.
Location: There are several noisy pubs, a short drive away. Stonehenge and Bath are a tolerable drive away.
We stayed in an Executive Double room for 2 nights. The toilet began running loudly at 5 AM. We put up with it and finally went to breakfast, after which 2 staff were sent to look at it. The problem, they explained, is that I should jiggle the handle this way and not that way. And it worked. Soon after they left, the water began running again. By the time we returned from Stonehenge, it had stopped, only to start up again in the night. Again, a staffer showed me a combination of moves the seemed to work...but not for long. The problem - all the components were limed up. This was probably why the shower on/off controller was stuck in mid-position. Then I began to notice that most of the hall walls were ripped from frequent contact with the cleaning crew carts. Really, the only distinction that gave the room Executive status was the imitation 4-post bed.

Hotel in the park near SwindonPosted 15/09/2015
Pros: Location was pleasant and the price compared to other hotels was reasonable.
Cons: The bar food stopped between 5.00pm and 6.00pm when the restaurant took over. This is just when many people want bar food?
Location: It is located near the town and with easy access to the M4 Motorway in 10 minutes.
This hotel is next to a very large Honda factory and as such has Japanese staff and serves Japanese food which is unusual for most hotels. It is set in a country park with plenty of free parking, free internet and quiet surroundings. The rooms are ok and they include a grab and go breakfast which consists of Coffee, roll, fruit, Alpen bar and plastic knife so you can put on the butter and marmalade while you check e-mails in your room.

Worst breakfast ever! Dated roomsPosted 08/08/2015
Worst hotel breakfast I've ever had! Cheap produce that tastes like it was cooked the night before, the scrambled egg was crusty on top from the heat lamps. Evening meal was a disappointment, chose to try the Japanese food with it being a Japanese owned hotel and it was average at best. The rooms were small and dated although I saw no issues with the cleanliness. Won't be staying again!

Great choice for exploring the CotswoldsPosted 02/08/2015 on Hotels
I had a very short weekend break and stayed at the Stanton House Hotel. Unfortunately the weather was absolutely rubbish so my stay was cut a bit short, but what I did see of the grounds through the sheets of rain made me plan a return visit before I had even left. Incredibly good value for money. A single room was just £55 a night. The staff were efficient, but you don't come away thinking they were the best hotel crew you ever met - they did their job, but they didn't seem to love doing it. The room was absolutely fine, nothing luxurious by any means, but for the price more than reasonable. The bed was a little worn but I still slept like a baby so it couldn't have been that bad. Everything was clean and the shower was amazing - great water pressure. Lovely soft fluffy towels, but no face cloth so take your own. Also no separate shampoo and conditioner - so if that bothers you make sure you pack some, I'm sure it is just a way for them to keep the costs down, which suits me fine if I can continue to benefit from the great room rate. The hotel is full of little areas to sit and have a drink or a coffee - superb views, overlooking the gardens and a lake. Really nice sun terrace to take in the views. Free wi-fi which worked well. Highly recommend this place.

Good Budget HotelPosted 28/06/2015 on Hotels
Stayed at Stanton House for two nights in May. Great price at only £50 a night. Great location. Room although generally clean was very dated and had a piece of very old chewing gum stuck into the carpet. I would be disappointed if I had paid any more.
