This was my family’s second time staying in this cabin neighborhood. Great experience both times! This cabin is close to the pool and the boardwalk for fishing. Kitchen is stocked. We’ll be back to enjoy another Saugatuck summer vacation!
Enjoyed our stay in Saugutuck! Such a family friendly community. We enjoyed riding our bikes to get ice cream, swimming in the pool, and enjoying everything the surrounding area offers
We had a wonderful stay. The kids and adults enjoyed it. Very convenient to the pool and stores in Saugatuck. Loved the hot tub. The kitchen was supplied well with everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the evenings. We’d definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends.
Me, my wife, and our daughter stayed here for a week and we really enjoyed our time in Big Bear Cabin. The cabin was clean, the kitchen was well stocked, and the check in/out process was easy. The only issue we encountered was a broken blind. I ran into one of the property managers outside, who was very friendly, and I told him about it. They had the blind fixed the next day. One thing that you can't tell from the pictures is that there are neighboring cabins on both sides. This cabin is one among many in a little neighborhood. We didn't have any problems with our neighbors. In fact, everyone was very friendly. Overall, we had a great time and I would definitely recommend Big Bear Cabin.
We rented this cabin for a family Thanksgiving, and had a really nice stay. There was plenty of room for two couples and 3 kids, with the kids sharing a double bunk bed room. There are two living areas, upstairs and down, so the kids could play video games while adults watched TV. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub on the covered porch while it snowed outside!
A couple of small issues:
There were some light bulbs burned out in a couple of lamps
Some remotes might need new batteries: one of the TV remotes and the controls for the ceiling fans.
One concerning issue: the wooden stairs going to the 2nd floor are *very* slippery. My husband fell once while going down. Installing stair treads would avert future accidents.
Overall this is a great property, with just a couple caveats/comments. The good: hot tub was super clean and crystal clear. The high-touch surfaces in the house were very clean (floors, surfaces, etc.). Kitchen had good selection of cookware/utensils. We appreciated the new furniture in the living room. Not as great: the dryer did not work well. We didn't realize this until the last night of our stay. It seemed to be blowing the hot moist air into the house, as we could feel/smell the air from the dryer in the house. This might also explain the mildew we spotted in a couple spots on the wood walls/ceiling in the house. The washing machine had mildew in the door gasket. A couple lamps throughout the house didn't work (no spare bulbs to be found). The house is overdue for a deeper cleaning - lots of visible dust on light fixtures, shelves, etc. The area rugs and wood floors are getting pretty worn in some spots, and the mattress in the master bedroom is completely worn out.
I can’t recommend this cabin enough. Beautiful area, beautiful cabin. Community pool and lake. Can’t imagine a better get away for friends or family. Great communication from the host. Highly recommend!
