Quaint near Quallicum
We were on Vancouver Island for a couple days looking to purchase a retirement home and decide to book a place thru VRBO. The place was clean and cozy, really enjoyed our stay. Carolyn made everything from check in to check out enjoyable. She made sure we had candles in case the power went out with a pending storm which was great for us main landers. I would definitely recommend whole heartly

Wonderful, Relaxed, Away-from-it-all time
We had a wonderful 3 nights at this quite beach front resort! We enjoyed the hot tub every night with the beautiful ocean in the back ground. We got oysters from one of the locations Carolyn told us about and our friend even found a pearl! We visited Cathedral Grove which is only about 30 minutes from this place. The cottage was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Great start to our holiday!
Amazing! We had a fantastic time. The place is lovely. You can sip your coffee in the morning watching the eagles, herons and other fauna right at the beach. My husband, my daughter and I enjoyed kayaking, roasting marshmallows in the bonfire, collecting treasures from the beach, and relaxing in the hot tub. There are also many attractions nearby. Carolyn is a great hostess, friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here; we certainly plan to go back!
Overall it was a pleasant experience but for an extra $100/night, Parksville Resorts likely a better option. The fridge is a typical hotel fridge and did not meet our needs. The rooms are small but beds were clean and comfy, no A/C, no dishwasher, tiny kitchen and living space.
For the cost, I expected more so overall 3.75/5.0
The property owner is friendly, the premises are kept very clean, which I appreciated so much. Location is good as we travelled to other islands nearby and drove to Tofino for a day too. I was looking forward to picking oysters and clams as advertised (and had to get a fishing license for it) but there were hardly any oysters at this beach. seems it was combed cleaned. I had read a review that mentioned the small fridge being a problem, so I brought a large cooler and that solved the problem. Also, that tiny fridge can accommodate enough food if well packed.
Great host. Friendly, personable, and memorable. Very easy to get a hold of host when needed. Well kept, cozy units with all the basics included. Convenient for our use.
The place was much smaller than expected, but worked out for a family of 6. Cute location. Rocky beach, but water was great for paddle boarding and seeing wild life in the distance. Short drive to sandy beaches and restaurants. Overall pretty good stay.
Smaller than expected but very functional. Rocky beach was great for kids exploring with water shoes. Our weather was nice but could be hot without air conditioning or fans. Hot tub at dusk was stunning.
My daughter, her husband and I had a wonderful and relaxing time. The view was wonderful as was the time in the hot tub and on the beach enjoying a bonfire. We explored the tide pools and son in law tried stand up paddle board. We didn’t want to go home.
High/Low tides interesting to walk far out and see the sea life along the bottom of the ocean. Owner gracious, kind and competent. Room much smaller than reflected in the ad. Kitchen so limited it is difficult to store food and prepare meals.
Carolyn was lovely funny lady very kind to us and our grand children.
Great. The only thing I would change is the glass coffee table lol my husband and so kept hitting our knees in it. Cute little place very clean. Beautiful view. The kids played and were safe. Very calming atomosphere. Would come again. Oh the sheets were so nice. Soft and cool. Felt like bamboo
Thanks Carolyn.
My husband and I booked in overnight and brought my parents along. Our cabin was cozy and delightful ! Right on the beac with wonderful ocean views. Carolyn was a friendly and helpful host. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Island Paradise
Myself and 3 girlfriends stayed at the resort for a birthday retreat / weekend away from the hectic demands of our lives, and all of us agreed that it was one of the most wonderfully relaxing trips we have ever been on.
The suite we stayed in was decorated tastefully, comfortable, fully stocked, and was just the right size for 4 adult women to share for a few days. The view from our front room was unparalleled, and our hosts were welcoming, funny, friendly and made us all feel right at home.
We spent the entire day on the beach walking, checking out cool rocks and shells, watching birds, ooh the birds (eagles, herons, and a myriad of others), and sea lions float by doing nothing but just be - which encouraged us to do the same.
It was a magical experience for all of us, and truthfully we were a little sad to leave, but there is no doubt that we will return for another girls trip in the near future. Thank you so much to Carolyn for allowing us the chance to recharge, rejuvenate and remember what's important in our lives.

Relaxing and fun
We rented a 2 bedroom. The cabins are well appointed, clean and tight for 4 adults. We spent most of the time outside, so this was not a problem. The beach consists of smooth pebbles but there is a great walk to sand. The hostess, Carolyne, was a delight. She had great recommendations for hikes, restaurants and clamming.

Romantic and cozy cottage
Shady Shore at Bowser provided my husband and me with a cozy, romantic and adventurous get away! Our cottage was pretty and quaint! Staff were down-home friendly and helpful with dinner ideas and local spots. We sat on our semi-private patio looking at the constellations with a glass of wine well into the night. The beach was only feet away. Our view of the sun going down from the nearby hot tub was a time of relaxation and awe taking in beautiful nature. We could have kayaked...and BBQd as they were right outside our cottage! I beach combed and came up with very special rocks known only to this area. I recommend it for a cozy get away. We were able to go see historical Hornby Island with its unique post ice age warming huge rocks with 2 picturesque ferry crossings from a nearby dock. Just right for us!

R & R
We needed time away from a hectic, demanding year to reconnect and relax. We had a perfect September week of weather on the last week of summer. Our favourite moments at the Shady Shores Resort was the beach access, view and sitting by the fire under a Harvest Moon.
The room was clean and affordable. We appreciated the kitchenette and hot tub. Close to Qualicum for shopping or the Horne Lake Caves, Cathedral Grove Easy to cycle to and from these destinations.

Wonderful stay.
We just had a wonderful week at Shady Shores, sunshine every day but one ,the fish ( pink salmon) jumping right in front of the resort , waves of them , my husband got a licence and caught his quoter each day, I loved the view from our two bed unit while I was cooking and eating breakfast dinner,we had fires on the beach in the evening , hot tub and kayaking. Free wi fi .The pub up the road was interesting , this is a great location for visits to Quailcum beach, mount Washington and further north . We enjoyed our chats with Carolyn ,she was most helpful and accommodating and humerus , the units aren't huge , but most suitable , we wouldn't have any qualms staying there in the near future, Carolyn, we never did have that glass of wine , next time ok!
