Secluded Cabin on 24 Acres On Big Sugar Creek in Pineville, Missouri

This is a secluded cabin in the middle of 24 acres on Big Sugar Creek. Perfect for a romantic getaway or bring the kids or another couple to share the experience. Nothing beats a peaceful evening sitting around a camp fire watching the stars on a clear night. The eagles roost along the bluffs and return each year from November through March. The cabin is on the bluff side of the creek . You can also hike down to the creek or there are swimming areas near by accessible via car. (Mac's Big Rock and Owl's Nest) The closest canoe out-fitter is approx. 2 miles away at Sugar Island Campground. The close city of Anderson, Missouri has an old time movie theater that it famous for it's popcorn.

The area is known for its horse trails and hunting at Huckleberry Ridge State Forest. According to legend, locals used to the harvest huckleberries, which are a type of blueberry. The forest has miles of horse trails suitable for the novice or experienced rider. Popular sites include: Green Hollow, Cave Hollow, Overlook Point and Sheep Herders bluff. Horse trailers are welcome. The park also offers bicycling, bird watching, camping, and hiking.

Big Sugar Creek derived its name from the numerous groves of sugar maples which grew along its banks. Just up stream and east of Pineville is Cyclone, Missouri. A popular float is from the low water bridge at Cyclone to Craig O'Lea. The road to Cyclone meanders up the Big Sugar Creek Valley. A post office was established December, 1883 and Cyclone was named from the great cyclone of April 18, 1880, that passed through this part of the state.

During the warmer months the creek is a popular place for picnics, sunbathing, camping and canoeing. Elk River along with its tributaries, provides some of the clearest water and best canoeing in the state. The skill level is rated easy to moderate. The Elk is about as easy as they come, while Big Sugar, Little Sugar and Indian Creeks are narrower, swifter and more challenging. Bring your own canoe/kayak or rent from several canoe outfitters in the area. If you have ever wanted to try stream snorkeling, this is the place to do it!

Float Trip Getaway
The property was nice. I’d definitely say it’s more for to host a couple and not a family. There wasn’t enough couch space to lounge and hang out for our family of 5. Kitchen, living room and master are all up stairs. Stairs are steep so plan to use your muscles to carry everything. Location was beautiful and 10 minutes away from where we floated. Hot tub was broke when we came, that was a bummer. It was clean and rustic. Private location.

Pictures do not do justice!
The pictures posted do NOT do justice for this AMAZING cabin! There were only 2 downsides, but they are EASILY overlooked! The sulfur smell from the wellwater can be a little hard to adjust to at first, but after a few, you don't notice anymore. And tjere was NO cell reception at the cabin if you have AT&T. My wife and I would just have to swing into town to get signal to check voicemail and texts. On the flip side, it is GREAT to get the kids to disconnect without internet! Overall AMAZING TRIP! We will definitely be back!!

Who needs Wifi?!
My date and I spent the weekend here for my 46th birthday. Contacted Mary with some special requests and she took care of me. The pictures just don't do the view justice. Such a peaceful and quiet spot. It's been lots of time in the hot tub and just relaxing. Will definitely be back! Mary has taken care of anything you possibly could need. Didn't recall seeing any kind of outdoor chairs in the pictures so I brought a couple sports chairs, walk into the foyer as soon as you open the door there's like four of those chairs waiting on you lol

Secluded, Serene, Private Treehouse
A sweet escape from the hustle and stress of the “rat race”. Pine hill cabin is best described as a treehouse. Every window is a view into the trees. Birds, squirrels and deer are the only visitors. The cabin is very well appointed and the outside amenities are great, including a delightful HotSprings spa. If you need a true escape, rent this cabin.
