What a cute, remote, little place this is! All you hear are the rumble of the waves and look out on the vista of the Bay of Plenty and Whakari/White Island. Highly recommend. If you're in need of supplies, Opotiki is a 10 minute drive away otherwise, enjoy the wilderness. Fully equipped unit to spend time away from it all.

Host disputed the room rate agreed through Expedia , wanted additional payment Never had this issue with any other accommodation booked through Expedia Host had this booking from Dec 14 2023 and only when we arrived did it become an issue Driveway is extremely steep and difficult to reverse into , especially when two other cars already parked The loft bedroom has an exterior bathroom , which entails going outside across walkway in middle of night if needed

Hello, I'd like to respond to the guests poor review which is completely out of line with my previous reviews.When the guest checked in, I noticed that the room rate on the booking conformation was lower than it usually is. I never asked the guest to pay anything more than the amount on the booking conformation. The guest paid and I contacted Expedia to question the lower rate. It turned out that Expedia ran a promotion without my knowledge and consent. This wasn't the first time that Expedia lowered a room rate in an effort to attract more bookings to the hosts disadvantage. For this reason I now consider to exclude Expedia from bookings.Although the majority of my guests have no problem with parking, someone might find it difficult. I offered my guest to help and park their car but my offer was declined.The bathroom of the Honey Loft is literally 1 metre away from the room. Guests have to step out into a covered space to get into the bathroom.I hope this adds some clarity to my guests review.Ohiwa Seascape Studios

What a gem! We had the Honey suite included a private patio with view. We could see and hear the Ocean which made all the stresses of the day dissolve away. Short walk to beach. Unit came equipped with a small kitchen, couch and comfortable bed. Only two other units on site so lots of privacy.

The property is off the beaten track but only a short drive to Cafes and supermarket. Across the road from Ohope Beach with it's sands, dunes and sea only a 100m walk. Beautifully rustic self contained room, well appointed, clean and tidy for a restful stay. Perfect stopover or escape from the hustle and bustle.

Please note the bathroom is not attached, it's a pain to get out of main room to go outside to use bathroom and toilet in Winters, not very convenient.

Cool little getaway, host very welcoming. pretty close to amenities and a picturesque drive. the room wasn't what I expected as I didn't see this in photos when I booked. bit gutted as we thought we were getting a bath, room was pretty dated, TV was terrible. Room had basics for cooking and underfloor heating in bathroom was handy.

Absolutely fabulous. Stayed in well-equipped and beautiful Honey Loft apartment. Owner friendly and informative. Building in bushland setting with glimpses of sea from windows, very relaxing environment, and would certainly stay at Ohiwa Seascape Studios again.

Listen to the waves crashing all night and the sounds of birds waking you in the morning in a peaceful and serene setting. What could be better? Add a morning beach walk with no one else there, excellent and welcoming host in Stéphane, and all other amenities needed like wifi, TV (not that we turned it on), and breakfast on a table overlooking the ocean. The honey loft room is comfortable, open, private, and has quaint features, but for us was perfect. Yes, the driveway is steep, and the loo is outside. Just like my homes back in rural NZ when growing up. Loved this place.

The combined seaside, bush and garden setting is special. The accommodation is beautifully decorated and presented with many extra unexpected welcoming touches. The owner, Stephan’s welcome was friendly and discreet.

The person in charge was great . Had a major accident at end of road and couldn't get to supermarket for food. He supplied enough food as the accident took hours to clear. Thank for their help

Fantastic studio accommodation - directly on the beach, lovely garden setting and with all amenities. The spa bath is wonderful but the shower temperature is a bit fickle. We greatly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again.

The drive was a little steep and not easy getting into car park, but let that stop you. Units clean and spacious, a relaxing place to stay. Will be back.

Njce overnight stay
One night stay, although we’d have loved to stay for longer. Our studio looked out across the garden and the beach. Room was light and airy. Did not check out the Sat/TV as we’re here to get away from ‘it all’. Plenty of local information available. Stephan was very friendly anc helpful. Kitchenette was very well equipped. If we return to the area this would be top of our list of places to stay.

Beautiful studio next to quiet beach
Comfortable clean studio in a beautiful location with a quiet beach and nature reserve on the door step. The studio includes a fully equipped kitchen, very convenient. Helpful and friendly owners.

A great base
This is a real gem. The location was beautiful; sheltered above the long, sandy beach.We stayed two nights on our road trip around the East Cape. The loft was fantastic with stunning views and very well equipped for our needs with ground coffee a nice surprise. The bed was very comfortable as were the rest of the furnishings. The terrace was a bonus. Our hosts were welcoming and discreet, although all rooms were full. There aren't many dining opportunities nearby, so self-catering is the best option. A car is a necessity! A good base off the beaten track within striking distance of the Whakatane area.

Thanks for your great review. We see a lot of travelers making their way up around the East Cape, so this is a great place to stock up with supplies in nearby Opotiki for the trip but to also relax and unwind. We're experiencing particularly nice weather now at the tail end of Summer.

We loved the location, so close to a fantastic beach and awesome waves! The outside shower was very handy. Parking was a little tricky.
