La Campanelle
History The "Chalet di Cher' is an ancient stone stable renovated with great care. The Chalet is inserted in the chestnut wood of Cher located above Gera Lario and has an unforgettable view of Lake Como. To the owner It took three years to complete, with the advice of a Milanese architect, the careful renovation of the Chalet di Cher following the regulation of the area step by step.
Eco building Chalet di Cher was built with great attention to environmental sustainability and has been certified by Cestec as buildings in energy consumption class B (between 31-50 Kwh/m2 per year). The house has very insulating walls, a solar panel system for hot water, gas central heating with flue gas condensing boiler and independent with wood-burning stoves and fireplaces with forced ventilation.
Interior of houses The result of the renovation is surprising, the apartments are real gems full of charm. They are bright and with a fantastic view over the valley. The Chalet has been furnished to be practical and comfortable. There is a lot of wood and stonework and the ceilings are beamed. The design and the colors will make you feel at home. This small private paradise is not only for hikers or mountain bikers, but also for those who want a peaceful escape and for those who love to discover the culture of the Alto Lario and its well-known gastronomic attractions. It is also particularly suitable for families with children. The owner lives in Monza, but regularly uses the house for his holidays and consequently the Chalet has been equipped with particular care and is carefully maintained.
House exteriors The lawns under the house allow children to play safely. The beautiful view of the lake and the mountains can be enjoyed from all three apartments of the Chalet: le Papere, le Tartarughe and le Campanelle. All terraces and porches are well equipped with wooden tables and chairs and lounging chairs inviting you to spend the whole day gazing at the view. The house has a stone barbecue area for guests to experience their culinary art. In the forest of Cher, just 300 meters from the house, there is the Sorico stream, an uncontaminated stream with natural pools where you can relax and cool off.
Parking reserved for customers. The Montemezzo area is very safe and you can park in the garden behind the house (1 car per apartment) or park your car in the parking lot on the provincial road at the beginning of via Cher. Via Cher is the path of about 130 meters that leads to the Chalet and has recently been arranged to allow the transit of cars at a walking pace. There is also a larger car park near the church of San Martino (about 200 meters from the start of via Cher). Via Cher ends at the characteristic Cher's Chalet which makes the place absolutely peaceful.
Shops and more in the area If you are a good hiker you can also go to the village without using the car because there is an ancient path (about 2 km) that takes you to Gera Lario where you can find a supermarket, grocery stores, a bakery and restaurants. In Gera Lario there is also a large swimming pool with many sports equipment and a small port.
In the apartment; • external veranda with table for 6 people • Living room: the room has a table for 6 people. The kitchen area is open to the living room and there is a double sofa bed. Fireplace with ventilation. • Mezzanine/bedroom with double bed • A studio (with a bunk bed - 2 beds) • Bathroom: has a large bathtub

We loved everything about our stay at Paolos little house! The garden and the area around it are so magical. It‘s the last house at the end of a street that leads into a forest where we met some deers and relaxed at a river - so peaceful! We would love to come back!
we spend a fantastic weekend at Paolo's gorgeous little house. We loved the aura of Le Campanelle. It was perfect with our dogs .
We only had to improvise for securing the stairs for our little one.
Had a nice talk with Poalo.
We surely come back
We had a wonderful experience staying at the Campanella. It was lovely, and Paolo was a wonderful host who made us feel very welcome with extra information about the region and the home. We would happily stay again!
Nice condition good space but we just found the property too hot, one small fan is just not enough to cool down, the other unit for cooling produced more hot air than cold so we just did not use
The view is fantastic!!!
Really nice and perfect for relaxing. Only thing is, that supermarkets (for self-cooking) is a little bit far (but either you like it nice and quiet or you would like to have all around).
All together, I definitly recommend this place!!!
We stayed 5 nights with 2 adults and our dog. The view from the mountain is stunning and there is a large variety of things to do on the lake and the mountains. The appartment is nice and contains all you need. However a bit more amenities like hair dryer or more towels would be beneficial. It should be noted that there is no shower, only a bath and the stairway is rather steep, which means that dogs and kids need to be careful. While the surrounding is very appealing, during the morning and evening there are any moskitos and unfortunately the windows do not have any moskitos nets. Paolo was very nice and his support on anything you need is immanent. For guests with dogs please note that the garden has a walnut tree.

Rustic House in nature
Rustic House next to the forest with a great view!
If you Are interested in a calm place, kept simple and relax this location will fit perfectly.
The street may difficult to find and drive, its a bit adventurous. For the Check in you have to open junction Boxes and take pictures.
The Host requires to list the inventory and inform him directly. This Procedere seems exaggerated to me because eveything in the House looks old and used. Inventory not changed for years… and I mean Not vintage or historical.
This house has charm but is kept very simple.
The contact with the host was easy and fast. We appreciated That.
We really enjoyed the uniqueness of the apartment as well as the location. We had our two daughters with us (19 and 25), the bedrooms were a little tight, but we understood that would be the case when we booked. The check-in process was a bit tedious (first time I've had to send pictures of the water and electric meter before and after a stay).
The architecture and decor of the apartment was well thought out and probably the highlight for us.
The only negative part of our stay was the bugs (mosquitos mainly), we stayed in late June, so maybe it was just the time of year. There were no screens on the windows (understand this is common in Europe), but because of that we could not open the windows and the apartment was hot (one more fan would be nice).
The only other minor complaint was the internet was not working. The owner was very prompt in reply, giving us things to try and even sending someone there to look at it. But it never worked for us during our 3 days there. I don't fault the owner for this, these things happen.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
messy, filthy place with a very impolite, threatening landlord
Read this as our recommandation: Stay away from this place!!
I´m an experienced traveller and booked a lot of vacation appartements - never with any trouble. But THIS place is an insult to italy.
The "welcome package" was is nothing else but delegating work that a host should do, not his paying clients: at 15h arrived on time - no one there, even though this was announced. Weired instructions (neither understandable german nor english) - couldn´t find keys or anything else. So after 6 hours of driving, arriving in time no one there to help us, we called the landlord Mr. Paolo himself, telling him about the unsatisfying situation. Instead of apologizing or any kind of empathy he threatened us in low level english "he will throw us out of his house if we dared to complain, and we will find no place to stay". The place itself is filthy, furniture cheap and major parts broken - kitchen was unusuable (oven+hotplates out of function, broken and filthy pan&pots) &repairing company was "on vacation, sorry". Bathroom full of mold, NO shower at a bathtub with irregular warm water, living room covered with doghair&dirt, smaller than announced, one bedroom was not a room as announced but the entrance corridor with a cheap bunk bed and a glassdoor to next "room" (a galery, not a room - so no intimacy possible) - altogether a mess and partly fraud. Unfortunately we cannot upload photos here - but I will do so on my social media. We will demand back at least 50% of the money.
