About this property

Beyul Retreat - Red Mountain

Beyul Retreat is a wilderness lodge, personal refuge, and gathering space unlike any other. Set between Aspen and Vail, Beyul Retreat at the Diamond J lodge includes 32 private acres of meadows, forest, creeks, waterfalls and ponds, with trails leading right into the White River National Forest. The Frying Pan River remains a wild solitude, traveling through a gorgeous canyon formed from the 250 million-year-old red sandstone Maroon Formation.

We share this place with foxes, elk, black bears, hawks, eagles, and trout. Surrounded by the red rock of the river valley, the retreat is nestled in groves of Colorado blue spruce, Aspen and, Douglas fir trees. The extensive property has both welcoming gathering spaces and private corners for solitude.

At 8200’, our mountain ecology means changing magic throughout the seasons: a blanket of pristine deep Rocky Mountain powder in the winter, the sweet green emergence of spring, the glory of summer among the peaks, and a fireworks show of glowing hues in the fall.

The retreat is surrounded by the White River National Forest, which creates privacy and access for backcountry skiing, hiking, backpacking, and hunting. It’s 26 miles up from the confluence with the Roaring Fork, just five minutes beyond Ruedi Reservoir, a beautiful 1,100 acre lake where you can enjoy sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, and fishing. World-class mountain-biking, climbing, paragliding and skiing are within a short drive.
Red Mountain is the perfect cabin for 2 people to enjoy a getaway. With 1 queen bed a kitchenette and a wood burning stove you have all you need to settle in and enjoy nature and a good nights sleep.

Mountain R&R
This property offered serenity, nature and as much adventure as you want. This jewel is tucked away but worth the drive. There are so many trails to walk your pets or explore at your leisure. The hot tub and sauna were bonus points and the staff at the lodge were friendly and provided the 100 year history of the property. You can get a hot cup of coffee or an array of teas and sit in the morning or evening and listen to the babbling water running through the property. The cabins have all your necessities covered, including a wood burning fireplace with everything you need to get started. There are many activities offered such as yoga, fly fishing, horseback riding, on and off site hiking or just kicking back to relax. We were entertained by some of the local critters on site- lots of chipmunks, squirrels and friendly staff pups to greet you. Our time was well spent here.

Old quaint cabin in middle of beautiful mountains
This is a beautiful old rustic cabin located in a remote location surrounded by beautiful Mountain Views with great hiking and fishing on site. We saw a lot of wildlife on our hikes. We loved the wood stove and wood was provided. Now the negatives… There are a dozen or so cabins on the property fairly close together which we didn’t like. The sauna was closed the entire four days we were there which was a big disappointment. The hot tub was closed for cleaning the one day we planned to use it. There is only one fire pit for use for all the cabins rather than several shown in the pics and it was always taken so we never got to use it. We found out about a week before we were to go there that they double booked us so we had to change our dates. They gave us a discount but it still was an inconvenience for us. Despite the negatives we would return if the sauna and hot tub were both open as we loved the cabin and surrounding area.

Beautiful retreat with plenty to do
We loved our little cabin and the staff were extremely friendly. It's off the grid which is wonderful for disconnecting from the world and connecting with family. There is a sense of roughing it, but with a touch of luxury if that's possible. Our cabin was equipped with enough to make little meals and enjoy board games, and then we enjoyed going out on the canoe and walking around the beautiful property. We had a dog friendly cabin which was great and we were able to enjoy the trip with our pup. They appear to be investing a lot into improving the grounds even further so we look forward to another stay in the future!
