Down the road from the airport

Nice apartment, staff is off site most time and was hard to find for check out. Apartment is clean, beds were ok. Best to have a car for this location. Parking is free. Overall worth the price we paid. I would stay here again.

Louise gave us a great surprise when we arrived, she is a wonderful lady!

The apartments were over-booked, so Louise put us in a house on the ocean named "Sunset Marina". It is an older home, not posh like the new homes on both sides, but it is very sincere. While it might seem basic to some, it was *perfect* for my son and I. It has a useful kitchen well equipped for family cooking, but limited in place settings. The home has a washing machine and lines outside for drying clothes. There is a TV, smallish but appropriate for the wicker furnished living area. The internet was very good. The beds are comfortable and the two bedrooms are air conditioned. The single bathroom has a walk in shower and plenty of warm water. The home is just 5 doors down from Belmar Dive Shop, where my 13 yo earned his scuba certification on this trip. I recommend the dive shop, as well as this home. I would stay here again, 100% for sure.

Easy to get to

Clean friendly staff worked with me to clear up a Expedia screw up. Lots of things close by. Clean comfortable bed hot water cold refrigerator.

Nice smaller Condo/Apt

We stayed here for 1 night at the end of our trip, due to an airline scheduling problem. The condo/apt consisted of a large living room/dining room/kitchen complex and an average sized bedroom and large bathroom. I rated the Room Comfort only OK because of the cooling situation, not the furnishings or size of the rooms, that was all excellent. Like all the Bonaire properties that we saw, only the bedroom was air conditioned. We found the un-air conditioned areas to be almost uninhabitable. We are very intolerant of heat/humidity, so this was especially a problem for us. However, this is true of everywhere we stayed in Bonaire and is not a knock on Happy Holiday Homes, it is just the facts about Bonaire in general. The owner is very gracious and a wonderful host. The condo was very nicely done, nothing fancy, but comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen had all the utensils, stove, Microwave, refrigerator, etc. The living room furniture was comfortable, even if the room was hot. The unit had a nice courtyard both in the front and back to sit outside. If I returned to Bonaire, I would certainly consider staying here again. The owner offers good rates on dive packages and car/truck rentals for those staying longer. We had just finished our dive trip, when we stayed here, so we were unable to take advantage of these on our trip.

Hotel did not honor our confirmed reservation claiming they were overbooked.Also claimed they had no way to contact us before our arrival.Happy ending was they booked us at Roomers across the street with a lovely pool and garden bar area. Much nicer than Unhappy Holiday Homes.

Pleasant place, quiet neighborhood.

This establishment is in a quiet neighborhood and close to snorkeling. Upon arrival we found out that the price quoted did not include air conditioning. You should inquire about this. The unit did have ample over head fans and we slept fine. Lots of space outside for washing our equipment and handing out things to dry.

A home for the holidays

Happy Holiday Homes was a great discovery (see more reviews on Tripadvisor). This is not a hotel or resort, but a 14 unit apartment rental complex with a kitchen (microwave, large refrigerator, stove, etc.) PROS: *Located south of the main town, close to the southern dive sites and 15 minutes from Lac Bay for windsurfing. *Units are SPARKLING CLEAN and far better than the $200+ resort place we stayed at later in our trip. *Louise (owner?/manager) responds to emails and requests quickly and promptly. She was a great resource for our first visit to Bonaire. *Louise will stock your fridge before your arrival with groceries per request. She can also arrange for car/truck rental! *A kitchen allowed us to cook all our own meals. Island restaurants are quite pricey and the hours are restricted. We ate when we wanted to and cooking was easy with our well-stocked kitchen. *Wash tank/hose in the front of each unit with a locked closet to store dive equipment. All our wet/sandy equipment stayed outside so our apartment's floor and bathroom stayed clean! *Safe location. CONS: *This is not a resort, which suited us, but some people may prefer the large resort with bar/restaurants or amenities. *No ocean view. *Our double bed was two twins pushed together. It was fine for the few days we were there. *No daily cleaning service. Again, we preferred this but some people have different expectations. I recommend Happy Holiday Homes highly-can't wait to return!
