we were booked to stay at summit yashshree for 4 nights, however the morning we due to book in I received an email from management saying yashshree was undergoing renovation and we would be "upgraded" to summit swiss hotel
summit swiss hotel was in fact a downgrade, our double bed was 2 singles pushed together, middle of a cold winte nightr in darjeeling, no under blanket and a single bar heater to warm the room. we shivered and froze before eventually falling sleep.
not a geat experience after travelling all day before reaching darjeeling at 8:30PM
I related my disappointment to the staff next morning and they moved us to another room with an electric blanket, blower heater and a proper double bed. the staff at summit swiss hotel were very helpful and did their best to assist us.
the real problem is the management of the summit group of hotels in darjeeling and I would hesitate to deal with them again, (as I said before the staff at summit swiss were excellent). But on the other hand, I would say the management of summit hotels in darjeeling are dishonest and clearly have avoided taking any responsibilty with regard to an apology or any communication regarding the situation they foisted upon my wife and I. They just left their staff to clean up their lousy mess
Pros: the staff did their best to help
Cons: management might try being honest their clients, if their hotel is under renovation they should give timely notice and describe alternative options
Location: location of summit swiss hotel is close to center of fascinating and scenic darjeeling
