About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Steps to lake, deck, log cabin,

We would like to assure you that every precaution has been taken and the housekeeping staff follows the CDC guidelines for cleanliness.

This gem of a cabin was just constructed in 2017. It is privately owned and sits on 13 beautiful acres in Wilderness State Park near Mackinaw City and is directly across the road from Lake Michigan. It sits on a hill and has wonderful views of the Big Stone Bay. There is a large deck overlooking the Bay and offers ample opportunity to view the variety of wildlife here. Watch the eagles, osprey, loons, deer, fox, coyote, bobcat and maybe you'll be lucky enough to spot a bear. The park offers miles of hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross country ski trails. The bay is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, sailing, fishing or just enjoying a leisurely swim. Wilderness is just completing a "day park" a short distance away that has a wonderful sandy beach, bathroom facilities and lots of sunshine! The water is crystal clear and the Lake has a nice, sandy bottom that is shallow for quite a distance. It makes for great beach time with the kids.

The cabin comes complete with dishes, pots and pans, silverware and cooking utensils. There is a toaster, coffee pot, electric oven/stove, griddle, microwave and full size refrigerator. There are 2 large ceiling fans for warm days but there is generally a nice breeze. There is also a gas grill/propane provided for you use as well as a picnic table for outdoor dining.

The cabin has 1 bedroom with twin beds, a queen size sleeper sofa in the living area and lots of windows to let in the light. The cabin is bright and cheery with views of the surrounding area from every room.

We encourage you to bring your boat, kayaks, canoes, bikes or other outdoor "toys" for your pleasure. The Wilderness Park boat launch is across the road for putting in and plenty of parking on the property for your boat/trailer. If you will be using the boat launch, or using any Wilderness Park facilities, you will need to purchase a park pass at the Rangers Station which will give you access to the park and it's services.

There is a great general store (Cecil Bay Trading Post) a few miles away and the closest Grocery Store, gas station, and shopping is in Mackinaw City, about 20 minutes away.

If you are interested in visiting some of the local areas, the cabin is a short drive (within 30 minutes) to Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Carp Lake, Alanson, Petoskey, Good Hart, Cross Village, Harbor Springs and Indian River. Everything from fine dining to roadside cafe's, lots of antiquing, breweries, wineries, golf, sailing - the list goes on and on! Once you visit, you'll be hooked. This is a place you'll want to come back to year after year. We look forward to hosting you!

Wonderful secluded cabin
You’ll enjoy the view, especially at night when the stars come out bright. Cabin had all the essentials. As you might for any secluded cabin, Bring Bugspray!

Nice Location & Lake View
Overall a very pleasant stay. The location of the cabin and view of the Lake are great. The interior of the cabin was very clean, however the windows and outside of the cabin need a deep cleaning. Reading lamps in the bedroom would be very much appreciated and a stepping stool, for folks under 6 feet, to reach the dishes above the stove.

Beautiful, Private Cabin with Incredible Views
My wife and I had a great stay. You can’t beat the location and the view. It wasn’t the cleanest place we’ve ever stayed (the floors were pretty dirty when we arrived), but I figured that’s still a lot better than the rustic cabins in the area. The shower and kitchen were spotless, which is a major plus. This is a very self-serve property. We never heard from the host other than the automated check in email, which consisted of the passcode for the lockbox and a reminder to take out the trash when you leave. Honestly, that was all the info we needed, so it wasn’t necessarily a negative. It was just odd to never hear from the host. The sleeping situation isn’t the best as you have to choose between two twin beds or a pull-out couch where you feel every bar. But in the positive side, if you use the pull-out couch you go to bed with a view of the Mackinaw Bridge lit up and wake up to the bridge backlit with sunrise colors. It was beautiful. Overall, this is a great place to stay if you’re looking for a simple, private cabin close to the UP and Mackinaw Island. The views are incredible. I know parts of this review sound a little harsh, but we genuinely enjoyed our stay. We simply wanted to give extra feedback. A slightly lower price per night would lower the expectations of the property.

A perfect getaway
This sweet lil cabin has everything you need to unwind; it’s situated on a quiet field within walking distance to the shore. My partner and I watched the butterflies in the field and walked along the beach during the day, and stargazed at night. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Fantastic Weekend!
My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. It was the perfect spot for 2 people. We loved the view in the morning, and the clear dark sky at night. We saw some of the best sunsets over Sturgeon Bay, about 15 minutes west through Wilderness State Park. Overall a great experience!
