The facility and grounds were excellent. I arrived after dark and had a hard time finding the entrance to the facility. After three tries I got help from a local taxi driver to lead me to the entrance. The next morning I noticed that there was a sign at the entrance, but in the dark it was very difficult to see at night. The staff was the greatest ever especially Alejandra and another front desk young man. The owner who went above and beyond to loan me his IPAD charger after I forgot to take mine.
I found our room and experience just wonderful. Outside our room was a little river so all night we heard the water rushing and the sounds of the night for very pleasant sleeping. The food over exceeded our expectations. Chef Chris was so attentive to us coming out and making us feel welcome. Many vegys are grown at the resort. The ground were expertly kept with beautiful flowers everywhere you look. This place is nestled in the valley of some small mountains. Two pools one cool outdoors, one heated indoors. Hot tub. Walking paths. Exercise classes. Spa. There was even a little chapel. I would definitely go back there in the future!

Our resort has only 39 rooms each designed with its own character and decoration. Most have patios overlooking the river or …More
The hotel is very simple, but charming. Rooms are very clean and very comfortable. There is quite a bit of noise from adjacent rooms, so if you are a light sleeper, you may want to request a cabin. Also, I would suggest requesting a room facing the view. Our rooms (#1-5), faced the parking lot -- which had the amount of ambience you might expect. The rooms facing the valley and forest, have much more spectacular views. Not sure if those cost more. Also, definitely do some walking on the property. Lots of birds and bromeliads. Sadly, hotel staff seemed to know very little about the local wildlife and were not exactly overly eager to help. They were never rude or unkind, but not as friendly as at other places we stayed in Panama. You won't be able to leave for dinners, so know that in advance.
Comfortable and well located, this Hotel has very friendly staff. They are welcoming and always ready to assist. The rooms are clean and comfortable with views of the caldera river. Our experience was very nice.
"I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Boquete!"
I just returned from my vacation in Panama. This was my second time staying at Valle del Rio. My first stay was about a year ago. When booking my trip to Boquete this month I kept my options open and considered other hotels, but after having stayed at Valle del Rio last year I knew it'd be hard to find a hotel that matched it. My recent stay was even better than the first time around!
The staff is amazing- the receptionists are very quick to help. My Spanish is not very good, but each of the receptionists spoke English much better than I did Spanish. The restaurant staff is very attentive and their pasta night was great.
It's easy to get by without AC's in the climate, but at times it can get a bit warm, so I was pleased to see they'd added AC units to the rooms. The WiFi is also fast.
The location is ideal, it's a short walk to central Boquete. Taxi's are only $2-3 if you don't feel like walking.
Overall, the rooms are very comfortable and have everything you'd need. I can't think of a single complaint!
We had a few hours between checkout and flight time, and they let us leave our bags with them while we spent more time in town. In the U.S. it isn't nearly as common to find hotels go out of their way to be so accommodating.
Next time I'm in Boquete I'll definitely stay here again; the friendly atmosphere and scenery have won me over. I highly recommend this hotel!
Great place with an incredible garden and helpful staff. Away from the town's noise, but still 5 mins away by car from the town (30-35 min walk). Taxis are inexpensive $2-3. Make sure you get the taxi numbers from the hotel for after hours.
