"I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Boquete!"
I just returned from my vacation in Panama. This was my second time staying at Valle del Rio. My first stay was about a year ago. When booking my trip to Boquete this month I kept my options open and considered other hotels, but after having stayed at Valle del Rio last year I knew it'd be hard to find a hotel that matched it. My recent stay was even better than the first time around!
The staff is amazing- the receptionists are very quick to help. My Spanish is not very good, but each of the receptionists spoke English much better than I did Spanish. The restaurant staff is very attentive and their pasta night was great.
It's easy to get by without AC's in the climate, but at times it can get a bit warm, so I was pleased to see they'd added AC units to the rooms. The WiFi is also fast.
The location is ideal, it's a short walk to central Boquete. Taxi's are only $2-3 if you don't feel like walking.
Overall, the rooms are very comfortable and have everything you'd need. I can't think of a single complaint!
We had a few hours between checkout and flight time, and they let us leave our bags with them while we spent more time in town. In the U.S. it isn't nearly as common to find hotels go out of their way to be so accommodating.
Next time I'm in Boquete I'll definitely stay here again; the friendly atmosphere and scenery have won me over. I highly recommend this hotel!
The hotel is very simple, but charming. Rooms are very clean and very comfortable. There is quite a bit of noise from adjacent rooms, so if you are a light sleeper, you may want to request a cabin. Also, I would suggest requesting a room facing the view. Our rooms (#1-5), faced the parking lot -- which had the amount of ambience you might expect. The rooms facing the valley and forest, have much more spectacular views. Not sure if those cost more. Also, definitely do some walking on the property. Lots of birds and bromeliads. Sadly, hotel staff seemed to know very little about the local wildlife and were not exactly overly eager to help. They were never rude or unkind, but not as friendly as at other places we stayed in Panama. You won't be able to leave for dinners, so know that in advance.
Out of this world beautiful hotel. The grounds were out of a fairy tale, it was amazing. The room was very nice and clean. Mattress was firm for those that like that. Breakfast was yummy with all kinds of food. It was served on the patio that doubles as the bar later with a river running beside it, very serene and relaxing. The owner Judy was the sweetest woman who treated us like we were old friends.
This was our second stay at this hotel and for the price it is a great deal. The rooms are nicely appointed and the bed comfortable. Most of the rooms have direct access to a beautifully landscaped back yard with gardens, workout area, gazebo and hammocks. It is really nice how the rooms open up to a terrace overlooking this space and there are even spots just outside your door where you can sit and rest your drinks and enjoy the view. When booking I would highly recommend that you get a room with this access. The hotel is only 2 blocks from the main street making walking to attractions a nice alternative instead of having to drive everywhere. You will not be disappointed.
The beauty of watching gorgeous birds while eating a delicious breakfast in the morning in the absolutely pleasant weather is one of the delights of staying at the Garden Inn. The staff is friendly and competent from the breakfast server's sweetness to the office staff who gladly order a cab (you need a taxi if you do not have a rented car) to the warm and clean and comfortable rooms. The bar is a joyous sight! This is a very lovely place to stay. The only negative is it does not take a credit card so if you are going to stay more than two days, bring lots of cash. I recommend the Garden Inn.
The place was a bit difficult to find at night as the sign is small. The interior is a bit quaint, and a bit old, but everything works. There is no A/C in the room, but at 4000 feet above sea level, there is no need fo A/C, however a fan is provided with each room. The room is a bit old, but it was clean and the bathroom has been modernized. The place is family run and the service was exceptional. The staff was friendly and helpful. breakfast is a simple affair, with coffee, tea, juice, toast, plus eggs made to order from the kitchen. For the price that we paid, this was an excellent deal.
