Chose the hotel as a convenient base from which to visit relatives in the area. Arrived to an attractive drive to the hotel on the edge of the countryside. Our pleasant room was on the top floor at the front, which gave a great view across the city landscape to the south. Had one evening meal in the restaurant and a bar snack the other - both were good. We enjoyed our couple of days.
In need of a refurbishment. The hallways smelt damp. The receptionist was excellent on arrival on the evening, she couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and looked after which was a stark contrast to the head waitress in the morning at breakfast. There was no tea or coffee ready, no butter for the toast, the food was cheap to taste and shockingly expensive for what it was. When cleaning the waitress liked to clean the table knocking bits on the floor, then she would wipe down the seats of the chairs before wiping the next table down. She did this with 3 tables with the same cloth and never once rinsed it or used any form of spray. She also never smiled the whole time we were there and totally ignored people who strayed into the restaurant from the unmanned morning check in area. We were looking for the hidden cameras at one point as we thought we were being tricked. By the time we left we were convinced this hotel was the inspiration for the Alan Partridge series.
"nice and close to service centre. off the motorway"
nice a spacious. close to a service center with 24hour subway and burger king and starbucks. rooms were spacious and clean except for one which i complained and it was changed immediately. down side is there is no reception. the guys in the Spar shop in the service area manage it. you also need to have a car to stay there. but for the price it was amazing. its 25mins drive to city centre and 35mins back because of road lay out.
