The outside and property were neat and maintained. However, when we arrived, it was 94 degrees outside and 87 degrees inside. The A/C appeared to not be working. The location was close to where we wanted to be, but we were concerned of the safety factor based on surrounding properties. Yes, I saw a picture of the house, but not surroundings. There was a distinctive odor in certain areas of the house that stung my eyes, the back of my throat, and resulted in my boyfriend's wheezing for 2 days. He has been in numerous houses that have mold, and smelled it in certain areas of the house. Nothing was visible, but the odor is very distinctive. We chose not to stay there because my grand-daughters were coming to visit and I felt that this was a health threat to them and us. I contacted VRBO, and was told that proof was needed of the safety issue in order to refund. How can I prove air quality without visible signs of mold? I saw several patches on ceilings in several rooms, but no visible signs of mold. I can not prove that mold is in the house, but I can verbalize my dissatisfaction with VRBO that the properties advertised do not have to provide inspection results. Also, I did not realize the air quality issue until after paying, entering the house, dealing with the HVAC unit, and waiting for 12 hours for the house to cool off enough to stay there. Last year, my stay on Newcastle Street was a joy. Unfortunately, the same house was not available and the next property I booked cancelled, so to be close to family, I chose this property. Fortunately, we were able to get a room at the Best Western. So, after paying for the VRBO, hotel rooms for myself and son and his family, meals, my vacation cost 3 times the price. Sorely disappointed in VRBO and the realtor/host who did not disclose the air quality issue.

Excellent stay!
We had a wonderful stay and was in walking distance of waterfront Park where we enjoyed the Shrimp Festival. Home was very clean and in a quiet neighborhood. Will definitely stay again.
