"Great hotel"
We stayed at this hotel for 3 night, loved the decor and facilities, staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great and loads of choice. Its a little bit of a distance from Amsterdam centre but the train station is less then a 10 min walk. Beds were very comfy. The only complaint I have was no fresh milk in the room powered milk was provided but that was not to my taste.

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam City

Joan Muyskenweg 10, Amsterdam - Map
It's about 15-20 minutes away from downtown (5 minute walk to train station and 15 minutes to arrive downtown). It's nice and quiet because it'd a bit far from the "party zone" (downtown) so beware if you're going to Amsterdam to party. The lobby is nicely upgraded, modern looking, but the rooms are not at all. We didn't catch a ride but they have 2 boats that take you to Anne Frank's house and Central Station from the hotel port, which seems convenient but I don't think they bring yoi back, it's a one way deal and one leaves at 8:45 AM and the other at 9:30.
