Great location, only a couple of blocks from the Bund. Room very run down. Would rate about 2 stars. Had a window as booked, but it was looking out to an enclosed central column and let in very little light. Lighting poor. Had to use a head torch to read despite all lights being on.

Waited at check in for like 30 min at 4am and no one was there to be found. Finally some other guy came and woke up this guy in the back room who was not pleased to be woken. Very weird.

disgusting.... 1 star. stay away.
absolutely disgusting hotel. people smoking everywhere, lobby, hallways, rooms. my room smelled like urine and there was no wifi service. tons of bugs flying around the room and saw a cockroach as wel. this is one of the worst hotels i have ever stayed in.

first room i got, the AC was not working and it's summer. i got moved to the next room and the AC had a loud noise all night, they came to check the room but left and problem was never solved. the hotel is located in a great area but the hotel looks like its falling apart.

Upon arrival, hotel staff was inattentive and uninterested in helping my family check-in as hotel staff were all on their cell phones. The room we requested had a broken AC unit with filthy carpet floors. Overall terrible experience with this hotel.

Great location - Beds extremely firm, room very dated and worn needs a good makeover. No tours (with English guides) available from reception, had to book on-line.

Not a pleasant experience
Stay at this hotel before & after a cruise. The post cruise stay experience was unpleasant. Was given a room which air conditioner does not work. Technician insists it was OK. Told no spare room till next day. Could not tolerate in 30 C room at night and was given a temporary no windows room. Given a proper room the next day but still no air con. Technician checked & given another room. Still no air and switched 2 more times . Only told that the main air con system was at fault for the building. Should have known in the first place instead of telling us to move 3 times. Ignorant technician & unapologetic reception staff that made my stay miserable. Cleanliness and building was not up to par. Only the location & price is worth considering.

good location, but run down place
hotel has a premium location, close to the Bund and metro station. The staff is ok, the room facing the street is very noisy. AC was locked and not easy to adjust. The room temperature was too low. Bath was not in pristine working condition as shower head was not staying fixed to the wall. Door did not close automatically, instead one had to push and lock it.

Nice location, BAD quality
First off, this hotel is basically down a back alley from the street. Once you walk into the lobby the rude receptionist passive aggressively hands you the room key. The hallways are nicely decorated but musty and very dark and sketchy looking. My room was terrible, cold (the heater wouldnt work), bad lighting (not enough to be comfortable and the desk light was broken), toilet clogged, bed was hard as a rock (but i like it that way), wifi sucks, the window shows an amazing view of a dirty wall less than 3ft from the glass, oh and the door lock didn't seem to work. Bottom line, the place is cheap for a reason... you get what you pay for. It'll suffice if you're in a pinch.

Not so inviting hotel, had a big wet spot on the carpeted floor. Also smelled moldy/smokey. Walls are thin so had trouble sleeping, could hear people talk all night. The only reason for this hotel is location.

No world TV channels, bad wifi
It's a hotel good for China mainland citizens, not a world traveler's choice. Breakfast has Chinese style, few American or European choices. Staff does not speak English vey well. House keeping did not respect Do not disturb signal. they entered everyday in our absence. Wifi is difficult, there are only Chinese state channels on TV. Good for Chinese, bad for West citizens.

This hotel is very outdated. Very poor lighting in the hallways and in the room. You can smell smoke everyday despite the nonsmoking signs clearly displayed in the hotel. The only good thing is the short walking distance to the metro station.

We booked on website, Superior King Rm, but our first room not what we had booked and were given twin beds even though our reservation paperwork we had with us was clear. Room was certainly not what we had seen & reserved on-line, after complaint we were given a room with queen bed but wallpaper was peeling, room was musty and window view was disgusting. Bed was hard & uncomfortable, bathroom very dark,(we moved bed lamp in to see). For European visitors, there was no coffee sachets, cups, sugar or milk available, There are various levels of accommodation on their website , so ensure your room is what you have booked Rooms are non-smoking but that does not apply to the immediate corridor which stank of cigarette smoke at all times as did outside the elevator which has ashtrays. . Reception staff are not all English speaking which can become frustrating, even with mobile apps to assist chinese/english requests, day staff were friendly/helpful, but night staff were not engaging & dismissive to inquiries and concerns. Entrance to SBB Hotel is via a small, shabby driveway, some renovation work is being done, but the outside is not encouraging to guests. We had booked the Conference Room, and had difficulties with translation - staff were helpful but room was musty/smelling & any attempt to open blinds etc was ruled out due to outside views (rubbish), drinks hot/cold difficult to organise. Small Coffee Shop in foyer, but not staffed. We cannot recommend this Hotel at all

Dirty hotel in Shanghai
Really dirty, horrible visit. The bath hub is very dirty with human hairs everywhere. The bed is really hard and uncomfortable. Telephone is covered by dirts. Never come back again. Nightmare.

Would NOT recommend to others
1) During check-in I was asked to place a security deposit of 500 RMD. When I checked-out, they told me they couldn't give me my money back since I used a foreign credit card. I've been emailing their staff for the last few days asking for my money back and still have not received it. 2) The staff does not clean the bed sheets - during my first night I smelled perfume in my bed sheets (it was definetly not mine!) 3) No room wi-fi and the bed is hard as a rock 4) Rooms are very dark 5) Staff is not friendly - I found the front desk receptionist sleeping in a couch at the nearby cafe when I went to checkout at 6AM
