This room was not as pictured very very small kinda reminded me of carnival cruise Not enough room to walk in front of bed. No table as shown. Dust balls around all corners. Toilet had built up urine. Breakfast was scrambled COLD eggs. Bread from night before that was left on table. Dirty sponge used to clean dishes.

The stay was overall good. The really only bad thing was the WiFi. Had to sit in the lobby to make any kind of call or text. No WiFi in the room.

Mediocre accomodations close to everything
Well situated although a bit hard to find, located on a busy noisy street. Rooms were adequate though small. There is an elevator (cage type but worked fine) vs climbing several flights of stairs. When we opened the window it was apparent other guests had been smoking. There was old wood (maybe shutters of some sort) inside the window casing with cigarette butts right there - definitely a fire hazard. Breakfast was simple but was a good start to the day. Staff (most) were friendly and helpful. The owner (I believe that's who he was) was kind of grumpy and wanted to rush people from the breakfast area. For the price and convenience of being near attractions and the train, it was suitable but not what I expected. Rick Steves had said it was a good choice so we went with that. Maybe he was given a better room for a good rating?

Quaint hotel near city center
Hotel has only a few rooms in a building that houses another small hotel and several shops. Rooms are small but suitable since time was spent touring, not in room. Breakfast was okay, beds were somewhat firm, a/c was barely adequate. Location is central Rome and easy access to public transportation. Staff was friendly. Overall, pleasant 3 night experience

Quaint hotel, great location!
We had a wonderful time! The staff were all super nice and helpful. The location was great! We were able to find street parking and walked or took the metro to see everything. The room was clean. There were 5 of us, so it was a little tight, but very functional.

Excellent location and affordable hotel
Great location to stay in this cheap hotel. Rooms are small but comfortable and we really enjoyed the location as it was close to the train station and easy walking distance to most of the tourist places in the old parts of the city. We walked everywhere here and even walked from the train station to the hotel which is about 10 min with all our luggage. Staff were friendly and breakfast was just continental but it got us going in the morning. Will be staying there again at the end of this trip as we fly out from Rome in 2 weeks.

Most enjoyable stay at Hotel Margaret
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Margaret in room 402. The staff/owners where friendly and very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is close to everything. Our kids loved riding in the old styled elevator. Breakfast is continental so there is no muesli, fruit or eggs but the coffee and croissants were always lovely and fresh. Traffic was only noisy when we had our window open so did not bother us too much considering how central we were. We will definitely be back, what a lovely place to stay.

Rome sightseeing trip
Very small room in an older building, with tiny bathroom. TV didn't work 1 night, limited channels only in Italian. Wifi was good. Staff was pleasant. Simple breakfast w/cereal, juice, bread, coffee/tea. Although price was good, was still disappointing.

The Devil's in the detail
We liked the room, the bathroom and the breakfast. We had the room closest to the reception, so the phone could be heard when it rang, but not the conversationsame outside. I wish the shower were bigger and the hot water would stay for the duration of my bath. The location was convenient just because it was close to Termini and we had to visit it often. But during the night that area gets sketchy. We walked to the Fontana di Trevi (in repair) and from the Coliseum, but they are not close to the hotel. The cleaning service was not good. They never changed the sheets or the towels (we stayed 6 nights). The bed was made out of 2 twin beds, so the gap in the middle was somewhat annoying. Overall, it was fine, just some details that could make it better.

Margaret Hotel deserves 3.5 to 4
The Hotel is near Termini station-walking distance (unless you have luggage). The apartment was converted to Hotel (common scenario in Rome). Breakfast included (do n't be excited-very limited food at breakfast). Room cleanness okay (bathroom so so). Expect 3.5; but I will give 4, because of hospitality.I will recommend this hotel,because of courteous staffs at front, who helped me a lot, including getting cab to Airport.Thank you Zia and others for your help.

hotel Marvellous Margaret
I bought this 3 night stay for my parents 50th birthdays. They loved the hotel and its location and said the staff were excellent and friendly. The room was perfect and everything promised in their advertising was 100% true . The only negative is the fact that there is no kettle provided in the room . Well worth the money and they would have no hesitation telling people about the hotel and its perfect location .

Friendly staff, great location
This hotel was a very good deal in a convenient location close to Termini but not too close. My single room had a nice street view but the drawback was the nice street noise, even with the windows closed. A good set of earplugs solved the problem. The single room was very tiny but it was all I needed.

For the money it was worth being so close to the terminal station, the room itself could of used with the light switch cover falling off randomly and the drain in the bathroom being a little suspect. Location again was great just seemed like a suspect part of town

Old and smelly- bathrm to bed
Outdated- impossible to have it clean at that rate. Bathroom to bedspread- old and mildewy smell. Stingy breakfast, 1 croissant per person- please, does that really save them $ ?? Location was great- that's the only positive characteristic about this place.

Great stay for the money we paid
We stayed for 4 nights, the hotel is in good location. When we came in receptionist greet us, He was lovely and helpful. The other stuff wasn't very welcoming. We didn't have a bathroom in our room, but we have private bathroom at the end of the corridor. it was very small. Breakfast was lovely The most biggest disadvantage was that our room was next to the kitchen and every morning at 6 o'clock there was someone from stuff chatting loudly.

Pros: good location, 15 min walking distance to Roma termini and main attractions, quiet, has a/c, shower worked and had hot water, small elevator (enough for two people and 3 pieces of luggage) Cons: room was very small, housekeeping did not clean room daily but only made the bed and emptied the trash can, there was only 1 trash can for room/bathroom to share, hotel supplied soap bar and gel wash was very small amount and not given daily (so bring your own if you stay here), hotel did not change/give new towels daily, found a dirty toothbrush in the drawer, found dirty used band-aid on top of shower, breakfast was very very limited and not great at all, blow dryer was outdated, bed and pillows were very uncomfortable, blanket was thin

3rd floor in an apartment
I've learned not to expect much from Italian hotels, but this one was an interesting one. we could not find the hotel on the street first until we realize it was actually located on the 3rd floor of an apartment. There was an elevator, that fit only one person along with a suitcase, and didn't really look all that safe. The hotel staff was nice and friendly, but the room was so small that one would have to sit on the bed for the other to walk to the bathroom. Breakfast was offered but very limited.

It was hard to find the hotel because it is a floor in a big building and there were no big signs. The elevator was so small and not very sturdy. The room was very small which was fine but there were shoe marks on the wall from where people smashed bugs and the show prints nor the bugs were cleaned off of the wall. Our room was right by the front desk where someone is supposed to be present all hours of the day because you have to leave your key with them when you leave and also have to be let into the building by someone at the front desk. Well at 2:45am one night the front desk phone wouldn't stop ringing for over 10 minutes and you could hear someone trying to get buzzed into the building but nobody was at the front desk to let them in. It did have sufficient air conditioning though which was good because of the Rome heat. I didn't really care for the location of the hotel besides the fact it was a 10 minute walk to the metro/train station.

Very affordable, room was very small but we expected that based on reviews, so I can't complain about that. AC and TV worked great, bathroom was small but everything was clean and worked well. Staff was very nice, breakfast was good in the morning, and they gave good recommendations on nearby restaurants.

An amazing stay
Thank you Hotel Margaret! Our stay was so smooth and amazing because of your hospitality. They were able to answer all questions and help us plan our days to see the most of Rome. I left my purse in the hotel and they immediately emailed me to ask where to send it to. No where else would I experience that service or honesty.

Cute budget hotel that needs a deep cleaning
Very happy with this cute boutique hotel - staff was great, helped us with directions, dinner reservations, etc. Was walking distance (granted my husband and I both enjoy walking) to all of the sites - the subway is about a 10 minute walk away. Breakfast was fairly standard but good. Biggest issue was that the bathroom was dirty. Not just dusty but DIRTY. Mold was growing in the shower (the way the door opened I don't think the maid could see it when she was cleaning). There was a memory foam thing in the shower that would be nice if in your home except in a hotel you wonder how clean it can be. My husband dropped his toothbrush and used mine for the rest of the trip because we were concerned about its safety.

Very nice, proper Italian feel
The lady at reception went above and beyond, the location was superb, less than 10 minutes walk from the train station, metro close by. Great building - proper italian feel and a nice breakfast. Will definitely return!

Basic accommodation convenient for terminus.
As a solo traveller this was just adequate. The single bed room was narrow and rather saggy. A small table and wooden chair, no coffee or tea making facilities. Tiny bathroom with Shower, sink and toilet up 3 steps. Shower doorway quite narrow, so a heavily built person would struggle to get in. Door opened onto the breakfast room/social room so it was noisy until around 11 pm and then at 6.30 when the breakfast was set out. Despite no smoking notices I had to put a towel across the door base to stop smoke coming in at night. Reasonable for a city where space is at a premium, but lacking in charm.

Very good service and overall stay
The hotel is close to the main metro station, and the front desk was very helpful. There is an elevator from the main floor up to the hotel, make sure to use it! The breakfast was great, and amenities were acceptable. The room was very cold because the heat doesn't turn on until the temperature reaches a certain point, but there were additional blankets so it wasn't an issue. The drains started to smell after we showered, but gradually went away. The room was clean as well. They make you leave your room key at the front desk before leaving the hotel each day, but there's a very small safe in the room, so we locked up our valuables and we kept the key to it while we were away. There are a few restaurants around the hotel as well. Overall it was a good stay for a four day trip.

Great hotel for Roman Holiday
Hotel Margaret was in a great location for us - handy for Termini station and Repubblica metro. It was also an easy walk to the Spanish Steps. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was plentiful. Our family room had lots of space and was really clean as were all of the common areas. A great find and we'd definitely go back.

The hotel was clean and very close to train terminal and sites. Ther was a hairdryer in the room but was mounted too high for it to be plugged in which made it useless. Found this issue in only one of the rooms ( we stayed several nights but had to switch rooms). The room street-side was noisy, take ear plugs. The I ternet, although free, was down one of the nights we stayed.

Rooms were clean and quiet. The hotel is located on the 4th floor of a building with multiple businesses so don't look for a hotel "building" like you would see in the states.Look for the hotel embassy, it's that building. Very small bathrooms, but great value for the price. Would stay here again.
