Rooms are a little small but the view of the lake and mountains is spectacular. Parking is great as it’s not restricted. If you stay right in town there are parking limits. It was only a pleasant 10 minute walk to town . One day we had to remind reception out room was not made up . This is a great reasonably priced convenient place to stay

Fantastic location which made walking into town very easy. Parking on site was great! Staff were super friendly and helpful. The bar on 6th floor was lovely great $2 oysters and lovely cocktails! Stunning lake views. Breakfast buffet was lovely with very friendly chefs happy to assist. The only negative was we had a family room with 2 double beds as we were with our daughter and both beds could have done with new mattresses. Overall a wonderful hotel and would definitely stay again!

We had a lake view, which was beautiful. The room is small with no storage for clothes/accessories, but we only stayed one night. I would not stay here on an extended stay unless you are OK with living out of your suitcase in a small room. The breakfast buffet, which was included, was excellent. The location perfect, in walking location to restaurants and shopping. Overall, a good location for a stopover.

Unfortunately we don't advertise having AC, as we don't have this being the hotel built several years ago without it. We apologise for any inconveniences this have caused to you. Rooms also do have a hair dryer, but we're sorry if this was missing in your room. We're sure any of our staff members would've been more than happy to get another one for you if you asked them. When checking in they said we received an upgrade to a family room from our Lakeview room. When we went up to our room, it clearly was not an upgrade and we had to argue to get the lakeview room that we had booked and paid for

Says soundproofed, instead our room had a door joining the neighbouring room with a crying child. Room was run down in a big way. Shower was so small you had to shimmy to turn around and wash your back. Drain was broken and you'd kick it around with every movement you made. 4 star it is not, super disappointed given the price. Avoid unless it's your last option.

Felt the property was very overpriced for the quality of the room. The lobby is very current but the rooms are not. Small and hot. About a half mile from any restaurants or shops. If you do get a room w/ view- it's very noisy but beautiful view of lake.

These rooms do NOT have AC. They offer a plug-in fan to cool down the room, which is widely inappropriate for a hotel that claims to be 4-stars. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful lobby pictures either, because the rooms are below average. In fact other guests can access your room from the shared balconies.

This place has no air conditioning and major HVAC problems. It was downright humid in the hallway and our room to the point where you could see streaks where the walls had been wet. The bathroom ceiling was covered in mold and there was no fan to help dry it out. Opening the window to cool the room would have been fine except that it lets the rabid sand flies in. The staff was nice and the room was otherwise clean but the only thing worthwhile was the convenient location.

It is a beautiful hotel , wonderful location in front of the lake, the view from the top floor from the bar & restaurant was amazing, great rooms, good service and the food was delicious . However, the only downside for us was the location of our room , we had a good view to the lake , but the access to the room was through the stairs , all the other upper floors had access through the elevator , except for the one on the first floors, so I won’t recommend this floor , is not convenient if you have luggage to carry. I didn’t know , otherwise I would have requested a different room when I made the reservation and unfortunately we were not able to move or upgrade since they said they were full. Other than that, it is great place to stay .

Needs some TLC, amazing location
I've had great experiences with Rydges properties in NZ and I was a bit disappointed by the Lakeland hotel. The good things: - You definitely cannot beat the location, right across the street from the lake and walking distance from the city center (with FANTASTIC restaurants and shops). - The views from our room were spectacular! We could see the mountains and there was a lovely lavender garden in the balcony, smelled so good and it was nice to see the bumblebees. - Breakfast buffet is superb, all the food was delicious, worth every penny. The not-so-good things: - Although it wasn't an issue for me at all, please keep in mind there is no air conditioning in the hotel rooms. They do provide a fan and you can open the windows, but if you are someone used to AC (hello, fellow Americans) you might not be too comfortable. Again, not an issue for me, but might be for others. - The room had some dust and debris lying around. Nothing too crazy, but noticeable. -The shower door isn't very good at keeping the water inside the tub/shower so be prepared to have wet floors after showering. There is NO ventilation in the bathroom which causes everything to steam up. Even the windows in the sitting area in our room were fogged up due to the lack of bathroom ventilation. -Our room had a pull-out sofa bed but the mattress is very very thin, so we ended up putting it back as a sofa and sleeping like that, much more comfortable. Not sure I'll stay here again.

The nicest thing about this place is the outside- it looks nice and majestic from the front but its all down hill from there. You can tell they haven't done anything to keep this place nice in a long time. The carpet is all worn out and gross. The beds were aweful. My kids kept saying that its fake fancy. On the surface, it looks like it will be nice but it really isn't. The place is totally worn out and run down. But the view is great.

We had a lovely stay at the Rydges Lake front. It is close to the town center and an easy walk. We got a bus from the airport and the stop was right outside very convenient. The road is very busy and it was quite noisy at night. Could do with some double glazing to help with the noise but other than that a great spot to stay.

The location of the hotel is fantastic with fantastic view if given a room facing the lake. The lobby is very inviting and great place to hangout. Staff are friendly. The room is however quite dated which could use some upgrades. There’s no air conditioning. We were placed on the ground floor room facing the parking close to the lobby that was slightly noisy with people walking in and out, especially with the window opened.

the hotel was realy nice.. clean, comfortable and conveniently located within walking distance to the town centre. breakfast was amazing! the only con for me was that the bathroom towel rack location was a bit annoying as i everytime i washed my hands, i had to turn around and walk to the opposite side of the bathroom to dry my hands. the safe location.was inconvenient as well. it was in the top shelf of the closet, where only really tall ppl would be able to reach and use it without having to climb up on a stool / chair to do so. and those are really minor cons imo... everything else was excellent

Fantastic location. Tired, noisy old hotel - I stayed in one of the ground floor wings next to the road / parking area. The room was not sound proofed at all - every noise from outside (traffic on road, people chatting, doors from parked cars slamming etc). Something so simple as double glazed windows and thicker curtains would solve! Lots only money spent on lobby area Renovations but seemingly the ground floor rooms were left out. Bathroom was like a 1 star backpackers bathroom. I politely recommended to check out staff about noise proofing the rooms and the woman shrugged and said we never get that complaint. That was it. Not even a ‘we’ll take a look at that’. Zip, nada. And zero thank you : good bye.
