We stayed in the Cambridge the weekend the 2014 Tour de France passed through Huddersfield. The hotel was understandably busy (some guests had booked a year before!) but the staff were calm and pleasant and coped well with a busy breakfast period. We were allowed to leave our car in the hotel carpark for the day - roads in the town were closed for the cycle race and we could not have moved the car anyway! Our room was in the modern extension (not sure what the rooms in the older part are like) and was clean and comfortable with a luxurious king size bed.

We were attending a family wedding at the hotel so it was the obvious choice to stay there, there were a lot of the wedding party staying there as people were travelling long distances to be at the wedding. Everyone's room was ready, quick check in, helpful pleasant staff, on the way into breakfast one of the party asked for an iron when they went back to the room an iron and ironing board was already there. Breakfast was buffet style an excellent selection of fruit, cereal. pastries, and freshly cooked english speedy but not rushed. We ate in the Italian on site restaurant on Friday evening also excellent. The wedding was well organised and again food very good and the function room was lovely. All in all a superb weekend.
We stayed here while visiting family, so for us it was just a place to sleep. However it was very nice. Convenient for the M62 so would suit business travellers. There were several parties going on during our stay but we couldn't hear any noise. No elevator to 2nd floor which may be a problem for people with limited mobiity, so request a ground floor room.
Hotel is on top of M62 but with the double glazing and windows shut you dont hear anything.. but it was very hot when i wa s there and the noise of the road was tremendous, otherwise staff eager to please and comfortably different from the bigger chains of hotels i tend to use. BIG rooms and big bathrooms a positive

Needed a room for one night, and it was fine, once we found our way into the carpark!!! The only 2 concerns we had were the room was very hot, although they provided a fan which was very sensible and there was a leak on the hot water tap which made the tap very hot to touch and the bathroom was even hotter!! Otherwise, clean, comfy and I loved the fact we could help our selves to more tea and milk if we needed from the room near by. Also breakfast was great. Basically for a cheap rate room it was good and will be happy to stay there again.
