“Excellent Hotel”

My husband and I were extremely happy with this hotel. We had a meal in the evening which was excellent, and the breakfast, which was included in the price, was of a very high standard. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We would recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to book again.

“pleasant stay”

We stayed one night in a courtyard room which was very pleasant. Continental breakfast was included in the price but we upgraded to a full english breakfast at an extra £5 each. The full english was excellent and the continental breakfast table also looked excellent with a wide variety of food. The grounds looked lovely and it was a shame that we didn't have time to explore them. We would stay there again if we are in the area.

“Good enough”

Service was brilliant. Rooms were 'tired'. Food was OK - they brought us a snack although they were very busy with a wedding - it wasn't too exciting. Would go back at Expedia prices - not the hotel rate!

“Who put the lights out?”

I had a courtyard room in what appeared to be converted stables. The room door opened directly onto the courtyard. The decor was poor but other members of my party had recently refurbished rooms, so perhaps I was just unlucky. On the last night I arrived back at about 11pm to find an electrical fault had fused the lights in my room. Staff were on hand but couldn't fix the problem. I was offered another room but didn't fancy moving at that late hour so took their offer of a torch. Although the staff were helpful and apologetic I was offered no compensation. Breakfasts were excellent. Hotel is used for weddings, conferences, etc which would have been noisy as my room was very near function suite and opened onto the car park.

“Good hotel but needs updating”

The hotel is in need of updating, although the rooms were very clean the wallpaper was very 80's. The TV worked but was very mussy, think it was an analogue TV. The staff were all very helpful and when I asked for hot milk for my coffee at breakfast instead of the cold that was on the table they bought me another pot of coffee with the milk as it took rather a long time to arrive. There is a swimming pool which was unavailable and very green. Pity.

“Tired hotel”

Hotel is ok but really in need of redecoration - peeling wallpaper and old paint. Reasonable staff and location.

“There are many 2* places better than this”

Arrived at the hotel and given our room. I was not expecting it to be marvellous after reading previous comments. It was clean and basic. Older type television and as we wanted to see some of the Paralympics I switched on but it had no channels, also no remote! Asked at reception and after about 20 minutes the receptionist came along with a remote and tuned it in to the four channels! The remote still did not work correctly. The swimming pool was out of action and I understand so was the sauna and steam room. Dinner that night was quite good and there was one vegetarian meal on the menu. Breakfast was continental but without rolls, cheese or ham or egg and I had the last croissant! There were grapefruit pieces and prunes but no dried fruit or muesli or freshly baked pastries as stated on the menu. Dinner the following night was exactly the same menu as the night before! The same vegetarian meal. We were told it was because there was a wedding that day and it was not possible to cater for the wedding and also provide a different menu for the hotel guests! We ate out at a nearby pub where we had a splendid meal. Other guests at the hotel seem to have similar views saying they would never return. It was rather a disappointing weekend as far as the hotel was concerned and it is doubtful whether we will go to a Legacy hotel again.
