do not stop if you want a good sleep and breakfast
Halloween disco went on until 1 am in the morning we couldn’t even watch TV it was that loud. we also paid for breakfast which we didn’t get an helper who was packing away the disco gave us a small box of cereal. Nice chap who looked very embarrassed about the situation the owner was not about. Reported this to hotels.com they are meant to investigate but not even got back to us.

Lovely room with a huge bed and plenty of pillows. I prefer a soft pillow and these were quite hard but this is a personal preference - my husband thought they were good. Bathroom is a nice size with a good shower - a couple of shelves here and there would help. One to put your clothes on when you go in the shower and another in the shower to put your soap etc on. Beware that on Fridays and Saturdays they hold events which means very loud music - no chance to sleep before 1am. However, Lynne did warn us of this and we were out 'til late ourselves so it didn't cause us a problem.

Not great. No real knowledge of our booking. Breakfast not available (arranged breakfast at hotel across the road). Worst of all absolutely no hot water in the morning

Lovely modern clean room and great bathroom. Room was quiet and access was easy up one flight of stairs. Would definitely book here again if in the area.

The Tavern is right at the center of the town, on a busy corner with no easy drop off point. The main business is the (CAMRA award winning) pub downstairs, which specializes in real ale and gin, attracting a lively clientele. There are a handful of rooms upstairs, accessed through a side door and steep stairs. Ours was squeaky clean, with an eclectic mix of furniture including a wardrobe with 3 locked drawers (intriguing) crammed round the bed, and a huge bathroom which may have been designed and installed by an enthusiastic amateur. We had no problem with an early arrival, were greeted warmly and handed keys to our room and the street door. Breakfast (served in the bar) was generous, freshly cooked and tasty. The bar serves lunches, but the only evening with food is Wednesday, which is pie night. Friday is live music, and if the windows are open, you’d best hope it’s music you like. Overall, it was exactly what we needed: a nice, good value base for a few days, and we liked it a lot.

Staff and the room were both very nice. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was lovely. A few minor down sides to our stay. Check out was 10am which was a bit early for us, especially when we were woken you at 4:40am buy a truck picking up the bottle bins with bright orange lights flashing through the blinds. Secondly, due to the pub having a skip delivered we were unable to use their parking space and we had to park over the road in a Sainsbury’s. Unfortunately, this was in the middles of a thunderstorm and terentual so we, along with our bags and suits got absolutely soaked.

Good pub hotel
This is the second time we stayed at the Thyme.... and we were in room#2. Everything was good apart from the light in the bathroom in the room... which was on a motion activated timer.... and would stay on for 10 seconds only... then you had to move in order to get it to come on again. We spoke with the staff downstairs and they said the manager would fix it within the hour.... but he didnt. We then found out it came on by itself????... and then went off again a few seconds later.... which it did all night... most frustrating.... If this is going to be the selected method used.... the timer should be set for a decent time of operation... say 5 minutes.... and the activation mode should be desensitised so only a definite human movement... like walking in... or opening the door... will activate it.

Good Thyme at the Tavern
A lovely pub with rooms. Good choice of real ales. Friendly staff. We had a very comfortable large bed in a good sized room Excellent full English breakfast, also croissants, cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit provided. Papers available. Live music in the bar on Friday could be heard in our room but we enjoyed it. We parked in a nearby side road. Free overnight parking at Sainsbury's down the road but they start charging from 7am Mon - Sat and 10am on Sun. OK for early risers.

A Nice Room At The Inn
We had a first class stay. The staff were friendly and obliging. We wanted an early breakfast one day and that was no problem. There isn't a car park but we had no problems parking nearby. Room 1 was large with a bathroom that housed both a bath and a stand alone shower.

Perfect to unwind.
I picked this hotel to relax after a wedding I attended. The pub below was terrific, the staff very friendly and accommodating. They opened breakfast early just for my schedule and was made to order. The town was quaint, and there were plenty of choices for eating and entertainment. There is good public transportation available as well, and it only took about 20 minutes to make it to Heathrow for my flight home to the States.

Thyme Out
No parking facilities at the hotel but we were fortunate as we could use the supermarket nearby as we we stayed on Saturday evening. Room was clean but quite small as it was at the very top of the building. TV did not work at first but this was sorted with a metal coat hanger. Breakfast was very good indeed. Price was higher than expected but this was likely due to rugby world cup games.

More of a pub than a hotel.
Booked this for a friend and his feedback was that it was more of a pub than a hotel, which is fair enough. The drawback is that you could hear the patrons of the pub from the room, of which there are only 4. Bathroom was cold and had a faulty sensor which kept on turning itself on and off. Pleasant and fair for the price all things considered.

Helpful staff & lovely bar atmosphere
Fine establishment with very helpful staff & the food was great. Lovely atmosphere in the bar & the food was good and at a reasonable price. The room (Room 1) was very nicely furbished withe a large, luxurious bathroom. My only small negative is that the bed was extremely hard & not very comfortable at all - shame as everything else was lovely & the staff were so helpful & friendly

Best breakfast EVER!
We arrived late on our checking in day and after driving up and down looking for a car park decided to call up and ask where it was and I was kindly asked to park in the Sainsbury's car park across a road (busy) not brilliant but it is a pub after all. The lovely lady took me up to the room and I have to honest and say I was alarmed when I could detect a strong smell of mildew on the way up the stairs, what I have booked I thought! However the room was lovely, very clean and thankfully no smell of damp. The bathroom was brand new and was bright and had a great rainfall shower, I was very happy surprised this was exceeding my expectations. The breakfast in the morning was to die for and I would happily stay there again just for the breakfast, it really was just perfect! So if they got the damp smell fixed on the way up the stairs it would be a perfect 5 from me.

enjoyable bed&Breakfast
the hotel is actually a pub that has several rooms at level 2 & 3; But the room was clean; felt kind of old; certainly renovations would do good; but if you want to stay 1-2 days to visit London, this is perfect. To get there just take the train to Cherstey and ask at the station about the tavern; it is very popular among locals; the owners are very friendly; very good breakfast.

OK
The accommodation was not as good as I expected for £70 per night. The good points about the room were the bed was comfortable and the linen very clean. But, the room was small with only a small window to the street. The shower room was also cramped with a window at seating height to the loo with no curtains, which was a bit disturbing, although it did have obscure glass!. The decoration/ carpets/ furniture were a bit old and seedy. The steps up to the room (it was on the top floor) were steep and the automatic lights were slow to operate. The beer, however, was excellent, although you drank it in a pub with bare floors and lots of windows without curtains. (Do the owners not like curtains?} You felt like I imagine a gold fish feels with everyone looking in. The breakfasts were OK. but not great. Coffee, tea, fruit juices, packet cereals, some fresh fruit on one of the two days I stayed, but not on the other. The usual "English" but nothing else except eggs on toast. No fresh bread. The service was friendly, but a bit tired. But how do you keep smiling at guest after guest? I couldn't.

Good for the price
Stayed in the small double room (room no. 4) at the top of the Tavern (I believe there are 4 rooms in total). There is live music in the bar on Friday evenings, which was news to me as it was not mentioned on website. That being said it was inaudible once past the heavy door between bar and rooms and was in no way disturbing. The room was not huge, but then again neither was the price. The bed was fine. The bathroom was fine, although the shower is a bit small for tall people. The breakfast was included and was good quality. If you need to stay in this area at this price level I would recommend it.

Taste of a small English town
The Tavern is right in the middle of a small business/residential area which is very walkable. It was further from Heathrow than we'd thought-about 10 miles-with very slow traffic on a Saturday afternoon. The outside of the pub building is dated but once inside you feel the friendly atmosphere. Our room, the largest, was very nice with a new large bathroom. The casual pub is downstairs but we weren't bothered by noise. The staff was very helpful in arranging for a taxi for departure. There are several eating establishments nearby and a large Sainsbury and ATM machine. I would definitely recommend Thyme at the Tavern.

Bit mixed, and not what I expected for the price
Room was nice enough, the breakfast was very good and the people were friendly. But there were a few things I'd think about... the walls in the stairs going up to the accommodation were pretty shabby, which was a shame as the room itself was clean and stylish. The bathroom was big, but only had a shower, which was disappointing. more than that though, it was very cold. be warned, it's right on Chertsey High St, which doesn't come across in the details, and wheel-spinning BMWs were not mentioned at all. However, there are two big things that I take issue with. First of all, it is described as a restaurant. However, after a 225 mile drive I was told "oh no, we don't do food in the evening, you'll have to go across the road". ok, across the road was a pub and a proper restaurant, but I really wanted to just come down and eat. that was the point of booking somewhere that had a restaurant. And it was way overpriced. I stay in a lot of places, and the price I paid was far too high. It was about right for a boutique place with an attached restaurant in a quiet location. But not for what I got.

Wonderful place near London Heathrow Airport
We chose this hotel because we had an early departure from Heathrow the next morning. It and the tavern below are operated by the kindest couple. Because we were arriving after the kitchen would be closed, we called a couple of days ahead to see if we could still manage a meal. They happily obliged, getting the necessary cooking instructions from the chef, and preparing it themselves when we arrived. It was delicious! Thyme at the Tavern is a wonderful pub, with hotel rooms above. There is no elevator, just stairs. Bonus on the night of our arrival: Tuesdays are "Quiz Thyme" at the pub. Teams of patrons were competing answering various trivia questions. It was so fun to watch, and everyone was friendly. Very much a neighborhood pub. The room and its bathroom were spacious, clean and absolutely beautiful. The owners do it all and then some. We will definitely return for more than an overnight. HIGHLY recommend Thyme at the Tavern.
