"Nice hotel, extremely nice people, very relaxing"
Balconies at the back look out over nice gardens and a small rushing river...perfect sound effect for good sleeping. Everything was aesthetically tasteful, not extravagant but well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was excellent: typically an omelet or eggs prepared to order, arrepa like patties (corn flour based toasted buns) large plate of fresh fruit, coffee juice, etc. Eating on the covered patio with views of the gardens and mountainside was very pleasant.
The hotel is very simple, but charming. Rooms are very clean and very comfortable. There is quite a bit of noise from adjacent rooms, so if you are a light sleeper, you may want to request a cabin. Also, I would suggest requesting a room facing the view. Our rooms (#1-5), faced the parking lot -- which had the amount of ambience you might expect. The rooms facing the valley and forest, have much more spectacular views. Not sure if those cost more. Also, definitely do some walking on the property. Lots of birds and bromeliads. Sadly, hotel staff seemed to know very little about the local wildlife and were not exactly overly eager to help. They were never rude or unkind, but not as friendly as at other places we stayed in Panama. You won't be able to leave for dinners, so know that in advance.
"Fabulous coffee planation and mountain experience"
Beautiful setting on the slope of a mountain, working coffee plantation, wonderful tour and explanation of the coffee business by Caesar (pay additional $35), gourmet restaurant, wonderful and easy hiking trails around the property and nearby into the mountains. No pool but lots to do for 2-3 days.
From my experience you can never tell what you might actually find until you get there. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel and would defiantly recommend to others. Breakfast is great, the gardens are amazing and location is close to the town.
We originally planned on staying at this hotel for two days and then moving somewhere else.....we stayed for eight days! The staff is incredible. They made us feel like family. Our spanish was weak, at best, but we found ways to communicate with them. The rooms are great - spacious and clean. The bathrooms appear to have been recently remodeled. The staff was very attentive - we wanted for nothing and the special "made to order" breakfasts' are incredible - again, they made us feel like family.
When we return to Boquete (for good), we will go to the Hotel Rebequet and just visit (and our spanish will be better).
