I did get lost; being my first time in Amsterdam, I could not figure out the maps on the sidewalk, I was also famished, and exhausted, not to mention completely on my own!!
Anyway, at 8.30 PM, 07/06/2014, I find The Novotel I had booked, and I am I told there are no rooms left. Great. Just when I thought my luck was completely out, a nice young Dutch man, who's name I cannot recall, informs me that I have been upgraded to a suit! Amazing news! I just wish I could remember his name. My boyfriend arrived, and we checked-out on the morning of the 09/06/2014.
In conclusion, the Hotel franchise, that is Novotel, couldn't have offered myself, or my boyfriend, a better stay.

Very, very nice hotel just as advertised. Only problem is that there is not much in the area. There is one bar/restaurant within reasonable walking distance. But the hotel itself as a bar and restaurant with very good food with reasonable prices and the same goes for the bar. They have a free sauna and rent bikes. The hotel is a short walk from the Metro, approximately 5-7 minutes. Metro is several short stops from Amsterdam central/Central station. Approximately 20 minutes by train from the airport, simple and cheap. Unless you have a lot of luggage, I suggest you save some money and take the train. Unfortunately there is no shuttle provided by the hotel. Maybe they should look into providing one at some point.

Arrived during late evening.
Were able to get a freshly baked pizza to eat.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Clean foyer, elevator and corridor. Room very clean too.
Very comfortable bed and pillows.
Room was overlooking a busy street but no traffic sounds were heard.
Recommend visiting Hermitage Amsterdam - a short walk from the hotel.
Would book this hotel again.

So, we visited mercure amsterdam airport hotel at the beggining of Nov. Firstly, the shuttle service is perfect and as soon as we met the lovely receptionist/driver that picked us up, we were already looking forward to seeing the hotel. The check in was very quick and efficient, we got day/night bus information, amsterdam city map and we just paid the deposit. The room was lovely and clean, with a huge bed and cofee supplies. The whole stay was very nice, we didn't use the restaurant option because we found it a little expensive for our budget. The only thing to consider is that if you are going for an amsterdam city experience and want to explore the city with some hotel breaks...its probably better to spend more on a centrally located hotel. The bus is very convenient to use but if u want to go visit in daytime and get back for some time before going out in the evening it can be a bit of a headache. The bus ride (197) is €2.50 pp/per way and there is no option for a travelcard or tourist pass as it is a connexion line and they don't have any discounts with travel cards or anything else, thevride to lijedsplein is about 15 mins. The night bus (N97) is same € but if u don't mention u are going till mercure hotel the driver will charge €5 each (it happened to us). Overall, a lovely hotel with good service, would definitelly use mercure again.

First trip to Amsterdam, long weekend with my wife. On arriving at the airport easy obtained train ticket to Amsterdam Central and after a 15 min train journey arrived. Walked on to the street had a look around and noticed my hotel was just 5 minute walk. We arrived early and went to see if we could drop our case before heading in to the city. The gentleman was very helpful and he said he'll have our room ready by midday. Rooms are clean and bed is comfortable. The room could be bigger but at the end of the day it was just to get ready in and sleep in. Rooms could do with tea/coffee making facilities but thats it.
