"The cottage itself was a little dated but clean and tidy with everything you needed. The view was spectacular but the road leading to the property was not for the faint hearted and very challenging. The small cottage is one of several holiday let’s on the same property and as the larger property was fully occupied with several visitors during our stay and between 6-10 cars we had to park outside the front of our bungalow which meant we saw our car not the view. Not bad but good be better."

"We stayed for 2 nights. Needed a dog friendly hotel and this ticked all the boxes. The grounds are beautiful and extensive. Waking up to half a dozen deer on the lawn was lovely. The family room was fantastic, the bathroom was very clean and looked newly renovated. The food is as all the reviews state. We enjoyed every single meal. We are already looking at booking another stay."

"Wonderful views and the feeling of being in The Lakes. Good spaces for walking the dog. Rooms are spacious and dog friendly with the inevitable trace of dog hairs on the divan bed. I stayed at this place on my way to Buttermere. It allowed an early start on quiet roads and was cheaper than staying in any of the towns en route. I did not eat in the hotel but the nearby services have hot breakfast rolls and good coffe. "

Everything has been well thought out and the decor works seamlessly from reception to lounge, conservatory. Restaurant, corridors , landings and bedroom. Spotlessly clean, fresh towels and bedding. "The place is absolutely stunning and we loved the secret door in particular. The fact there was some basic provisions when we arrived was super. The size of the apartment was much bigger than expected, and the decor, although a bit dated was in keeping with the property. The local village was quaint and we enjoyed a meal and drinks at the local pub one night."
