This place is just brilliant and we stay here now every time we come to Windermere. I recommend here to all my friends and colleagues who look for places to stay. Location is perfect, staff are fantastic, and a peaceful night sleep on offer with beautiful breakfast. What more could you want?

Rich and his wife run a very pleasant guesthouse. They are friendly and helpful. The room has every comfort needed and is cleaned every day unless you ask for it not to be. The breakfast menu is outstanding!

Perfect location for staying in the Lake District

Situated in a convenient location on the main road between Windermere and Bowness, our stay was amazing. Rich and Ada were brilliant hosts, welcoming and was very helpful. Breakfast was one of the best we've had in the UK and comes with so many different options. We had booked a cost double room but didn't feel that small to be fair. They were cleaned daily and the bed was so comfortable. There is no doubt that if we come back to the Lake District, this would be where we would stay again.

Amazing

Honestly one of best places I have stayed. Such a lovely area and Richard was amazing. He was very kind and very helpful. Everything was amazing from the room to the breakfast in the morning. Definitely will be planning on staying again. Me and my friend really loved our stay and both agreed to stay again.

Sparkling clean, excellent breakfast, comfy bed, peaceful nights, and very accommodating hosts who packed part of our breakfast to take out on the day our our 8 hour tour. Highly recommended!

The moment we walked in we felt welcomed. The en-suite room was beautiful and large with large tv, wifi, fridge, comfy sofa. Everything so clean. The staff were very friendly and 10/10 for variety of breakfasts. We certainly will go again.

2 Night Break in Windermere.

Stayed at the St John’s Lodge for 2 nights and was very impressed. Rich the Owner Manager gave us an upgrade, the room was superb and comfortable with everything we needed. The breakfasts we had were excellent, the choice was great. Would fully recommend this B&B to others and we will certainly be back.

The property was within walking distance of Windermere and Bowness. The hotel was spotless as were the rooms with some lovely personal touches. The breakfast was amazing with a choice of 24 hot options, you just had to order by 6.30pm the night before. On top of that there was cereals, fresh fruit, cheese, yoghurt, toast, fruit juice, tea and coffee - absolutely superb. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Lake District.

The owners and the staff are extremly polite and customer-friendly. Very patient with kids. The check-in was very detailed and helpful Food and beverages meet high standards. Breakfast freshly made. Stayed here several times in various rooms. Warm, cosy, quiet rooms & en suite bathrooms have everything you need, if not, just ask Rich or Julie & they will gladly accommodate you. Staff are superb. Very knowledgable about the area & free access to the local health club with free parking is great. Local shops, restaurants & bars etc. are only a few minutes walk either side of the property with bus stops on the doorstep. Sleapt very well every time & great choice of breakfasts, can not fault it. Will gladly stay again.

3 nights at St Johns Lodge. The Host was very helpful. Explained everything we needed to know, as well as offering info about the wider area. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic. Lovely stay - would return

This little B&B in Windermere has standards of comfort and service which could rival a 5* international hotel. Before we arrived I received a call from Rich to confirm our arrival time. The room was clean, comfortable and appointed to a very high standard. The Breakfast selection was second to none, with lots of freshly cooked options - and all dietary requirements catered for. I would have no hesitation in recommending this B&B for an upmarket stay. It is within easy walking distance of Windermere centre with dining and transport options. I used the off-site health club which was about a 5 minute drive away.

Fantastic, needs no more words.

For the the very beginning to the end, our stay at St Johns Lodge was amazing. We were welcomed in an extremely friendly way, with personal service from the very go. We had been given a free uograde to the supreme king room and what ablively room it is, clean, comfy bed, good sized tv and very nice bathroom. The bed was so comfy my wife fell asleep at 930pm( the walking and wine may also have contributed to this!!!) Breakfast was gorgeous, i had full english and the wife bacon, eggs and has browns, all washed down with as much fruit juice or tea and coffee as you wanted. There was also a cold buffet of fruit, cereals and yogurts. This place is perfect for a nice walk up to Windermere or a stroll down to Bowness and all the restaurants, pubs and activitelies. All in all a fantastic stay and will defo book here again.

On arrival, Rich welcomed us and ran through everything we needed to know for our stay by running through the welcome pack. There was a wee bit of confusion with the payment but it was quickly resolved with no further issues. The B&B was in a fab location as it is a 10 minute walk from Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere, both of which are great with plenty of restaurant choices. The breakfast was brilliant with plenty of choice! They're big portions so it'll definitely set you up for a day of exploring! The room was clean and had everything we needed for chilling out after a day of exploring. The only negative for me was that the bed and pillows were a wee bit hard but that's just me! The room was quiet and everything else was fab! I ordered a bottle of prosecco for arrival for my husband's birthday and it was set out on the bed for us with towels made into swans for us arriving in the room which was a lovely touch. We would definitely stay here again in future as it was in an ideal location, had everything we needed and the hosts were very attentive and overall fab. Thank you!!

Fab stay at St John’s lodge and will definitely look to return. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Ada was very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast variety was fantastic and the quality of the food was very good too. Easy walk to either Windermere or Bowness too with lots of options for food and drink.

Location: Perfect for us. Almost equidistant between Bowness and Windermere village, with easy access to both Orrest Head and Brant Fell walks, and restaurants at both ends. Parking: Easy parking just outside for 3 cars, with additional 4 parking spaces near a bus shelter almost opposite of the lodge. Hosts(s): Lovely welcome by Rich who was always around when needed, yet not intrusive at all. Room: We had an upgrade to the large king room (Room 3 called "Windermere") on the ground floor. Excellent room - spacious, very clean, well furnished, easily movable TV (allowing viewing from both from the sofa and the bed), fresh milk in the small fridge, and coffee and tea making facilities. Breakfast: Lovely breakfast room, with a good choice of cooked breakfast (choices communicated the day before), fruit, cereal and juices. We enjoyed well cooked Eggs Royale every day. Overall, an excellent stay and we will be happy to return back to St John's Lodge.
