"Great place to stay very central however, rooms and parts of the property is in need of an update, a little disappointed to see a little water mark mould in the shower, also the cleaner need to learn how to make a bed. "I recently travelled to Wellington for two nights to attend WoW. The James Cook was very conveniently located for this event and was only a quick walk to the event venue. One of the lifts down to Lambton Quay was undergoing maintenance for the three days we were there and this did create some significant queues and wait times around busy periods. The room was a good size and generally clean, although a deep clean of the room is needed as there were definitely areas of the room that were noticeably neglected - especially under the bench in the bathroom and the corners of the rooms, under furniture etc. I was also disappointed that although this is a hotel, there was no mini-bar. There was a mini-fridge but it was empty and after a long day and a long flight, this would have been welcomed. The noise levels from other guests in the corridors was also very noticeable, so there are some noise-proofing improvements that could be made. Otherwise a generally pleasant stay."

"Older hotel, which is showing its age (dings, chipped paint). Best feature is proximity to CBD and the Harbourside walk. Not many people staying there but we didn’t get a Harbourview room. $30/day parking. Quiet. Small fridge and kettle, instant coffees/hit choc/teas, no microwave or other way to warm food. Small balcony with views of surrounding hills/neighborhoods. Good wifi."
