"Exceptional traditional ryokan if you want to relax in Hakone & Yugawara! The thoughtfulness and service of the staff was wonderful in every aspect. Rooms were supplied with traditional robes, comfortable sleepwear, onsen on our terrace and hot spring baths. Kaiseki cuisine was delicious, plentiful and presentation was over the top. "The hotel is up a steep sloping street and in a quiet area. It has a traditional feel and the cafe is really nice and the hot springs, however there is no view, unless you pay for the private baths upstairs. The whole place could use a bit of a facelift, but more of an issue was the lack of service and the quality of the food, particularly dinner. "The bedroom is exactly as shown in the pictures, and the staff are friendly. We had a great time as a family in the private onsen, and the Japanese breakfast was amazing. "
"Beautiful scenery, super close- walking distance to ride a gondola to a major world renowned attraction (volcano).
Super baby and kid friendly; we got a balcony room facing the lake which allowed us to open the screened door to get fresh air.
The onsen was clean and in excellent condition; lots of quality amenities.
Buffets were generous and quality as well. They had an unlimited sake, whiskey, wine, beer bar plus all the juices, soft drinks, tea and coffee you want. The coffee was meh; worse than Keurig, but the Japanese teas were very fine.
There were so many food options it is a little overwhelming but I think it would be nice to have a guide to introduce people to how you would do a curated kaiseki meal by course; so folks can enjoy some of that experience. "
