"I booked a single room with twin bed but upgraded to a double bed and got a better room. The room itself was quite dark, except for first thing in the morning when the sun lit up the room and the bathroom, which was nice. The bedroom had only one central light (quite dark) and one bedside light, with no lighting over by the desk where the kettle/tea/coffee were, which was a little awkward. The bathroom was very nice, light, airy and spacious. The room itself was up and down a lot of stairs, along winding corridors with creaky floors, but the reason I chose this hotel was because it is hundreds of years old and has character, so I expected that! I was very disappointed with the internet, for a couple of reasons. One is that this is one of the few hotels I’ve stayed in recently that has open, unsecured internet, which is not good. The other is that it was very frustratingly intermittent and many everyday websites were simply not available, including the hotel’s own website! When I could get on a website or into my e-mails, one time it would be on and the next few minutes it would be off again, then back on, then off, even though it should me as still being connected!. Very frustrating. Perhaps this was because of the location of my room in the hotel and it being so old and having very thick walls? Anyway, I would recommend the hotel, as long as you know about the quirks. I liked the free parking and the hotel is located in nice private grounds, which is nice."

"Nicely positioned geographically and they had campervan parking and welcomed pets, so great for campers and pet lovers. Very basic room. Room was clean but very cold. I was housed in an old building and the windows were not double glazed. It was a cold day. Heating was turned on only after I requested at the desk at 7pm, although I was told it was on a timer and should have been on. Heating went off at 9:30 pm. Fortunately there was an extra duvet in the room but I had broken sleep due to the cold. A real shame because I only stated the night there to get a good sleep and a not too early start to an event nearby. I checked out at 7am and the heating had not switched on. Not great for my joints. The staff were all polite and friendly. Dinner time was busy and could have been better staffed. The meal was okay. I did not have breakfast, so cannot comment."

"This is a great hotel for value for money. I may have caught it on a good weekend for pricing but the rooms were exceptionally clean and facilities great. Very central, no traffic noise. Gym is small but enough for a quick work out. Breakfast was good, everything catered for (except mushrooms). All included in the price. Staff were exceptionally friendly. I would say better than Travelodge or Premier Inn. Go to hotel in Preston."

"Location perfect for our group get together - 30 mins stroll into Skipton. Breakfast good however staff need more training in replenishment of items Dinner OK - very expensive for what it was as were drinks. Service not great as order taken incorrectly meaning one of our group got his meal later than the rest - they didn't charge him for it. Reception staff very good & helpful"
