I booked the hotel for 6 nights with breakfast together with London-Vienna return flight with Expedia with a good discount, the whole package costing £486, which was excellent value . I chose the hotel because of its location close to the Metro and Westbahnhof, as I was attending an academic conference. The hotel room was clean, well-equipped with a trendy transparent shower in the middle of the room!! It had a minibar with drinks but no snack-food. As with most Austrian hotels there were no coffee/tea-making facilities or free water, but there were unlimited free apples!!. The breakfast buffet was very good - including a hot breakfast of scrambled or boiled egg, Vienna sausage and on the first two days but not subsequently) some reasonable (by the very fatty streaky German/Belgian standards!!) bacon!!, salmon and a fair variety of cheeses, as well as an excellent array of bread, fresh fruit, jams and cereals. The only annoying aspect was the coffee, which was not brought to one's table but one had to queue at a single rather slow machine, which delivered very small amounts!! There are free sauna/fitness facilities (which I did not have time to use). The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient.
Had a lovely stay - very nice room with a balcony, friendly staff, great breakfast and incredibly quiet for a hotel so close to the city centre. The only thing that slightly surprised us was the graffiti in the street outside - seemed very incongruous for an otherwise nice area. Would definitely stay there again though.
Me and my children stayed in a triple room, and all beds are proper beds, not pull outs. The ensuite was great. Room cleaned daily and fresh towels if you wanted. There is no kettle but I took a travel one. The rooms are a little old fashioned in style, but that doesn't bother me if they are clean and functional and good value for money.
The buffet breakfast was good, with plenty cold options, plus a couple of hot options such as fried eggs or boiled eggs. Cold meats, cheese, fruit, pastries and lots of lovely breads.
The location is fantastic for the price. It is just a few minutes walk from the tram/bus/underground/shops and cafes. It's really easy to travel around from there and if you want to walk you can get to the museum quarter easily.
The staff were v friendly and we were given a key in case we were late back.
We were there for a week seeing my friend who has moved close by, and I would happily stay there again.
Once a poor, overcrowded neighbourhood of textile workers, the 7th Bezirk has regenerated into a trendy student enclave. Visitors hone in on the feisty modern art in the MuseumsQuartier, while cafés, pubs and a thriving folk music and theatre scene keep Neubau humming into the wee hours.
