When is the best time to go to Fordlands?

Fordlands, being a part of the Bay of Plenty, enjoys a mild climate, making it a good destination year-round, but the best time to visit for warm weather activities is during the summer months, from December to February. This period offers the warmest temperatures and the most sunshine, great for exploring the natural beauty of the region. Families often find the summer months ideal for a trip to Fordlands. With school holidays in full swing, the long, sunny days are great for outdoor adventures like visiting the nearby redwood forest, exploring the geothermal parks, or spending time at the lakes. Many local attractions and activities are in full swing during this peak season. Couples looking for a more tranquil experience might prefer the shoulder seasons of autumn (March to May) or spring (September to November). The weather is still pleasant, with fewer crowds than in summer. This allows for a more relaxed pace when visiting the geothermal attractions or enjoying the scenic walking trails.

"This was our first time staying at this property, and we were very impressed. We stayed in a suite and found the check-in process to be quick and easy. It was also convenient to find a parking space close to our room, and we appreciated the range of facilities on offer. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. The room was exceptionally clean, and the spa bath was more like a spa pool, which was a fantastic bonus. The underfloor heating added an extra touch of comfort...

Recent Reviews in Fordlands

Sudima Lake Rotorua

10/10 Excellent

"Excellent location and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff proactively offered to sign me up for the hotel’s membership programme and explained that members can enjoy dining discounts as well as discounts at the Polynesian Spa across the road. However, they didn’t mention that membership also includes a late check-out option, extending check-out from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This was actually the most useful benefit for me, so I would have appreciated knowing about it during check-in. That said, the hotel is still a very worthwhile choice, especially given its excellent location and overall convenience."
