For the price charged this hotel really needs to up it's level of service. We stayed for 2 nights, to visit the Christmas market and celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. We arrived 30 mins before check-in time, greeted politely and then just told to "come back at 3.30", no suggestions of where we could wait, so we waited in reception and saw three more people arrive, check-in and given their rooms immediately! When we were given our room, there was no explanation as to the facilities, or where they were. There is a spa here and that wasn't mentioned. Our room was not serviced after the first night, someone from housekeeping knocked on our door in the early evening asking if our room had been serviced and if not, would we like it serviced now, we declined. We dined in the restaurant Sunday evening. The food was good, although service was slow. We were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu and we said yes, but then we were forgotten and I had to go and ask again. After ordering, one of the desserts was incorrect. When corrected it came back without the ice cream! The cheese was served straight from the fridge, so was chilled and lacked flavour. All minor points, but too many for a hotel that strives to a 5 star standard.
