This hotel has a history that dates more than 100 years back. In the lobby you can see pictures of the lady who founded Regina Hotel. Vienna is a conservative and old-fashioned place and this is very appropriate to live in an old-fashioned place as well to feel the city. Location is quite convenient for a traveller - City Hall, Vienna Univercity, City Theatre are all nearby. From transportation accessability perspective it is also quite good - subway station and bus stops of five city buses are within 3 min walk. And it takes only 15 min by foot to get to Hofburg! My room was excellent - on the sixth floor which is actually on the roof, with great city view. The room was quiet per se but for the reason of World Cup the streets were overcrowded in night time and it was loud.
Old-world charm in huge rooms with extra high ceilings (not all of them are like this, but ask and you will probably get it). Excellent breakfast. Take the tram around the corner to be in the city center in 5-10 min or just walk.
"Modern rooms, friendly staff and value for money."
This hotel is just out of the historic centre of Vienna (within a 10-15 minute walk), situated in a quiet area containing many decent restaurants. The decor has recently been refreshed and has a modern upmarket feel to it - it definitely doesn't feel like a chain. The staff were very friendly, but not intrusive. Breakfast and wi fi were included in my room rate and extras, such as meals or mini bar, seemed reasonably priced - it didn't feel like the hotel was trying to rip you off (as it sometimes does at hotels nowadays!).
"Very comfortable hotel, in quiet residential area"
We stayed four nights at this Hotel. It is located a little way from the city centre, in a pleasant residential area.
The Hotel is modern, clean, comfortable and the superior room 703 on the top floor was quiet and spacious, with a nice view, good aircon and a safe. The toilet and bathroom are separate giving great flexibility. The free WiFi is good too.
Breakfast in the 3rd floor restaurant has a good choice of cold dishes, plus eggs, bacon and sausage. Be aware that the restaurant doesn't appear to serve evening meals and the Bistro was empty most of the time. Wasn't a problem for us as there are plenty of places to eat just a few minutes walk away.
The Gasthaus Wickerl has an authentic feel and good Austrian food at reasonable prices. There is also a good Greek place too.
Tip: The integrated tram/bus/subway in Vienna makes it easy to get into the city centre. Buy a 24 hour ticket from the nearby Friedensbrucke U station (line U4), 10 minute walk. You can buy the ticket anytime, but the 24 hours start from the time you validate it with the blue box on the station or tram. U4 line gets you into the city in 10 minutes. Tram 5 to the Prater fair ground park and Ferrris wheel in 20 minutes.
Overall no issues with this Hotel, enjoyed the stay and good value in my opinion.
This hotel was charming, I loved it! There was a Mozart theme which could very easily have been contrived or tacky but it was beautiful, comfortable and had easy access to trams, trains and buses. The staff were very helpful and the choice of breakfast items was varied. Thoroughly recommended!
