The staff was wonderful, they dealt with my inability to speak German with grace and helped me out by checking me in for my flight online and printing the boarding pass too!
The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've seen, a great variety that included champagne! Mimosa's in the morning are greatly appreciated. Also included a lot of different cultures types of breakfast food.
The room was spacious, the vaulted ceilings were HUGE. In room mini-fridge, but with minimal room for personally bought items. The beds were very comfy but lacked a thin sheet. I mention this because it was HOT, 30 degrees Celsius, and the A/C turns off automatically when you remove the room key. I understand this is to conserve energy, however after being gone from the hotel this leaves the room stifling and the small window did not help.
Good location, wasn't far from anything.
Would absolutely recommend, just on a cooler weekend.
"Up market & traditional feel for a Bargain Price!"
This hotel is very well located just off the Schottentor train (UBahn) & tram stop. They made us feel very welcome and were very helpful.
The breakfasts were plentiful and very tasty (also included in the hotel price, unlike many other central hotels). The onsite restaurant also served high quality food for a good price.
Can really recommend this hotel.
We stayed for 8 nights in March 2014. Location was one block from metro so no car was needed or taxis. The stay at this hotel was extremely pleasurable from the condition of the whole hotel to the staff. The breakfast buffet was awesome. Everything was fresh and top quality. The staff was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Free WiFi worked fine, not the highest speeds but adequate enough for general email and posting to Facebook and such. The room was a bit small but realistically we only used it to sleep so really wasn't an issue. We had a queen bed that was extremely confortable and the linens were top notch. Air conditioning worked great and bathroom was confortable and room and bath were always clean. Nice LCD large wall mounted TV although English speaking channels were basically news nothing more. Refrigerator wasn't very cold at all to US standards. Short metro ride to the center of it all. You can walk as well but the metro was so convenient and fast that why walk. Would HIGHLY recommend this hotel. I have nothing bad to say about it. Was 100% satisfied with our stay.
Took a chance on the Strudlhof based on Expedia reviews. Glad I did. The location is wonderfully quiet: neat the tram (D Line) that takes you direct to the heart of Vienna. The breakfast buffet was wonderful complete with fresh breads, many cheeses, smoked meats and even salmon. Internet speed was well above average. The room was VERY clean and staff friendly (with most speaking English). Only drawback: nothing fancy about this hotel. The facilities look plain and lack the "classic touch" that Vienna is famous for. Would I stay again? ABSOLUTELY.
A friendly, personal hotel. Very Austrian in character, rather old fashioned, but quite charming. In excellent situation for selection of transport to arrive quickly into central Vienna.
Rooms vary, all spacious, but some rather dark.
Good breakfasts in pleasant breakfast room.
