VIDASOUL was exactly what & where we wanted. We (teen + mom) stayed 9 nights. Some days we stayed put, strolling the private beach to swim, gather shells, enjoy sunrise, eat AMAZING fresh meals (head chef Diego is an artist: ceviche, fish/chicken, salads, pastas, vegan options, all-day full-service with bar, prices reasonable). Kayaks & surfboards available on-site. (Waves generally swimmable/mild during North American winter & terrific for surfing in summer.) Some days we drove 22 km north to protected marine park of Cabo Pulmo with beautiful beach, snorkeling, hike at Los Aboritas; or 4 km farther to village for more hiking and dive shops. Hotel location is perfect for enjoying rustic, uncrowded part of Baja Sur PLUS having airport & bigger city of San Jose del Cabo about 40 minutes’ drive south for nightlife. VIDASOUL also has live, free music on Saturday nights - many locals come for dinner then. I loved how owner Joan & guests would talk together at meals on the open dining patio, watching whales & sunsets. There is wi-fI and A/C. Pet-friendly. Not all rooms have ocean views - the suites do (big glass walls, with shades to lower) so go for those if possible. Room above the restaurant (208?) can be noisy. Cons: pool not heated & 75-degree sea can feel cool in winter, consider rashguard or light wetsuit. ABSOLUTELY EMAIL OWNER FOR DRIVING DIRECTIONS! End of road is rutted dirt, if that’s scary, can Uber or getting shuttle from hotel ($80 per party). SUV not required.
