3.0 star property
Sandown
7.8 out of 10, Good, (87 reviews)
"Nice location. Great breakfast. Comfy lounge bar area. Friendly enough staff. But thebroom....I know it was 27c, we was on the top floor and the room was like a sweat box even with the fan they provided. The window had a safety lock so only opened about 4 inches. It seem like a converted loft to make more space. May have been better on the lower floors? Sorry but didn't sleep well here. .aybe move the safety locks so more fresh air can come in or air condition the top floor is needed?"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in St Helens?
The best area to stay in St Helens is the town centre, particularly around the Church Square area.

This area is the main commercial and cultural hub of St Helens. It's quite walkable and offers a good selection of shops, eateries, and local attractions. You'll find the World of Glass museum nearby, and the main retail streets like Church Street and Bridge Street are easily accessible.

For couples looking for a convenient and engaging stay, the town centre is a good fit. You'll be close to the St Helens Theatre Royal for evening entertainment and have numerous dining options for a relaxed night out. The proximity to the town's main transport links also makes exploring the wider region straightforward.

Business travellers will also find the town centre practical.
When is the best time to go to St Helens?
The best time to visit St Helens is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is generally at its finest.

During summer, you can expect warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours, which are ideal for exploring the town and its surroundings. This is superb for families looking to enjoy outdoor activities such as visiting Taylor Park or taking a trip to the World of Glass. The improved weather also makes it more pleasant to experience the local events and community gatherings that often take place during this season.

Couples might find late spring (May) or early autumn (September) appealing. The weather is still pleasant, but there are fewer crowds, offering a more relaxed experience.
Where can I find the best nightlife in St Helens?
St Helens offers a few distinct areas for evening entertainment.

The town centre, particularly around Westfield Street and Duke Street, is where you'll find the main concentration of pubs and bars. Many of these are traditional pubs, but you'll also find a few venues with live music or DJ nights, especially on weekends. It's a good spot for a pub crawl or a casual drink.

For something a bit different, the area around St Helens Rugby League Football Club (Saints) can be lively on match days. You'll find several pubs in close proximity to the stadium that get very busy with fans both before and after games. Expect a convivial atmosphere and plenty of conversation.

There are also a few independent bars and restaurants scattered outside the immediate town centre that offer a more relaxed evening, often with a focus on food and a good selection of drinks.
