"Very nice and quiet hotel."
You definitely get more for what you pay for here. This is a very nice hotel for a very good price. The rooms were spacious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only things I wish were different are that it was pretty cold the night we stayed and the heater wasn't very strong. (The beds were very comfy and warm though.) The other thing is that when I submitted an order for breakfast roomservice, my order form was never taken from my door. Even with those two things, I would still come back for another stay. It was very clean, easy to get to, and had some very nice and helpful staff. Even the night-time security guard helped us out with where to eat late at night when most places were closed.

"Wonderful Downtown Hotel"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sofia Hotel which was situated in downtown San Diego. We were within walking distance of many attractions such as the Gaslamp District, USS Midway, the Coronado ferry, bars, restaurants and theatres. A little further away but still walkable were Little Italy (fabulous outdoor market), Seaport Village, Petco Park and the Convention Center. Transit (MTS) was very handy which we used to visit Old Town, the zoo and Natural History Museum. We took advantage of the free historic walking tour offered by the hotel which was quite interesting. Our hotel room was clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful. We had one small issue with our bed which was sagging and the situation was remedied right away. Excellent customer service. All in all, a great experience. We will return one day!

Nice hotel free shuttle service to airport and a few attractions around town. Near to the trolley station. Great view of the harbour ships. Very close to bike and Segway rentals. Just wish they had more places to eat around the hotel. Otherwise a great location.

"Trendy hotel in the heart of the Gaslamp District."
Trendy hotel in the heart of the Gaslamp District. Only a few blocks away from the San Diego Convention Center. Great restaurants nearby. Staff is warm and welcoming. Housecleaning was prompt. Allow for early check in upon request. Modern facility. Only drawback was the lack of a continental breakfast but the free pineapple cupcakes available in the afternoon are delicious! The option for bike rental is great - a terrific way to get to the zoo (or just a quick bus ride away)

Where to Stay in San Diego?

If you like sunshine, golden beaches, palm trees, and year-round gorgeous weather, then pack your bags for San Diego, California. This vibrant city offers you the perfect getaway, with plenty of culture and a sizzling nightlife as spicy as those signature tacos you must sample.

San Diego is the second largest city in California and offers miles and miles of welcoming coastline. You can easily spend your entire trip sunbathing on the warm sand, tip-toeing into the cool Pacific, paddle boarding, taking a surf lesson, or kayaking around the fantastic La Jolla coves, where you’ll get to greet the local sea lion colonies.

Of course, San Diego has many other adventures to offer, too. Take your children—or just yourself—to the San Diego Zoo, one of the largest and most diverse zoos in the world. While you’re at the zoo, walk around the adjacent Balboa Park. You’ll enjoy viewing the beautiful Spanish buildings and checking out the many different museums, including the popular San Diego Museum of Art and San Diego Natural History Museum.

When the sun goes down, make your way back into the heart of San Diego. The famous Gaslamp Quarter offers copious ethnic cuisine and plenty of amusing people-watching. You can toast drinks at rooftop bars, check out a Padres game in nearby Petco Park, or dance your heart out in a local club. For fans of craft brewing, San Diego is your playground. Considered the “Craft Beer Capital of the World,” you can’t throw a stone without hitting a famous brewery—but don’t throw stones when you can stop for a pint at Stone Brewery instead.

    San Diego Accommodation

San Diego accommodation comes in many forms. Live in the lap of luxury at one of many San Diego beach resorts, or keep things simple at a local motel or one of the city’s welcoming hostels. You can also book family hotels in San Diego near your favourite attractions. Just be aware that if you plan on visiting the city during the annual Comic-Con convention in July, hotel rooms will be in incredibly short supply.

    Getting to San Diego

San Diego is served by the heavily trafficked San Diego International Airport (SAN), just 4.8 km from downtown. The heart of downtown San Diego is walkable, but many activities, like the zoo, major golf courses, and wine country are farther away, so a booking a car hire in San Diego might be a good option. In the city, try to take at least one ride on the historic trolley. To get to other locations a little farther afield, you can also book a ride on one of the regional rail systems or bus lines.
