8/10 Good
"Room was clean and well maintained. Only 2 staff that I actually met. I did not eat the breakfast as it was 7am when it starts and I had to leave before. Kind of weird that it's in the basement. For the price it was a good clean centrally located place to stay."

8/10 Good
"The room is clean and quiet. I was on the 11th floor, so the view was actually pretty good. The only downside is the internet is quiet slow, around 5 to 7 mbps. It could use a bit improvement there."

Hampton Inn by Hilton Ottawa

Hampton Inn by Hilton Ottawa

10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Ottawa. Everything was exceptionally clean—the room was spacious and truly spotless, with every surface looking brand new. It had everything we needed, including shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, an ironing board, and other thoughtful amenities. The room was very quiet, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the overall comfort was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated the free on-site parking. The location was also very convenient—only about a 10-minute drive from downtown and Ottawa’s main attractions. The only small downside was that breakfast could get quite busy, and the selection was somewhat limited. However, this did not affect our overall experience. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the stay. We were very satisfied and would absolutely book this hotel again on our next visit to Ottawa."

Frequently asked questions

What can a history buff expect from a stay in Ottawa?

What are the must-see historical places and other sights in Ottawa?
Ottawa is notable for landmarks like Royal Canadian Mint, Peace Tower and Maison du velo. Known for its museums and art, cultural venues include National Arts Centre, National Gallery of Canada and Canadian Museum of Nature. Other popular sights include Parliament Hill and Canadian Tire Centre.
What is a historic hotel like in Ottawa?
Historic hotels give guests the opportunity to stay in a place that's been officially recognised with a national historic designation. Historic hotels throughout the world can take the form of palaces, castles, stately homes or even lodges, pubs or skyscrapers — any building that's been identified as being of special interest. These types of hotels in Ottawa often preserve original elements like traditional architecture and period features in their communal spaces or guestrooms.
What is the difference between a historic hotel and a heritage hotel?
The two are similar. The term "historic hotel" is more common in the U.S., while "heritage hotel" is often used in Asia and Europe. Historic hotels tend to emphasise the physical building and architecture. A heritage hotel draws meaning mainly from the cultural value that the place has and how it inspired the surrounding community.
Do historic hotels in Ottawa have modern facilities?
Yes. Every effort is made to preserve treasured traditions and historic facades, but hotel interiors are fitted with modern conveniences and safety features. Guests should expect the popular amenities you'd get from a hotel such as Smart TVs, WiFi and updated bathroom facilities. In Ottawa, booking a historic hotel doesn't mean you will stay in a place that's rundown or uncomfortable for guests.
