"Fantastic ocean view room, quick walk to town"
We enjoyed the sound of the ocean and beautiful view from our room, watching the sun set from our balcony was as nice as any spot in nearby Kona. We think this hotel is ideally situated as it is a 10 minute drive to a great snorkling beach, or a 5 minute walk into town for happy hour. Relaxing at the pool on the ocean or the lagoon is a good way to recharge after a volcano adventure. We have been enjoying the Royal Kona for years, and hope to continue for many more.

"Quiet mountain retreat"
We stayed at the Chalet Kilauea for part of our honeymoon. The room was very private, which we liked. It was also very spacious, and included a dining table and kitchenette. We loved the shower, which looked like a cave. We wanted to be close to the Volcanoes National Park, so this was an excellent choice for us. We plan on coming back and staying here for one of our anniversaries.

"Good for.someone.who wants peace and quiet"
Very peaceful, just the sounds of nature and an occasional windchime. No TV in the rooms but they do have WIFI if you need to stay connected. Organic food for breakfast! This would be great for people wanting to go on retreat. I really enjoyed my stay and have already told some of my friends.

"Ok for a quick stay"
Needs some upkeep/upgrading. Hard to find. Quiet and relaxing except for the roosters which are everywhere anyway. Suites are huge. Great for a family or larger group.

"Older rental condo community ON the coast"
The pros: close to downtown Kona and actually on the coast. There is no beach, but the volcanic rocks below our room housed all sorts of crabs, fish and eels to check out. The room had a washer and dryer, which are essential for a longer stay or if you plan on doing a lot of beach activities The cons: Old, hard beds. The air conditioning was a wall unit and did not reach into the bedroom. The only reason that we stayed was the Murphy bed in the front room. We were cool and could watch the sunset from bed. The WiFi is very slow. Individual units are owned by different people, so finishes vary. We were in D34
