"This was a great little spot to use as a home base while exploring the national park. The host was excellent. She always responded quickly to inquiries which was so comforting. There was a gas powered wood stove like heater that was heaven while we were there in February."

"Hapuu room is a magical and very cozy spot with an intimate view into giant ferns and forest. The other guests in adjacent cabinswere very charming. We were all checking in at dark in heavy rain — note, the driveway is dark driveway and coming from Hilo and Jade Street, it is technically the second last on the right from the Ruby Street end of Second Street (the last driveway is a yard) — we were bumbling around but eventually took a dive and walked down into the dark and it was the right place — a beautiful spot. "

"Beautiful property within a serene rainforest, very close to the Volcano National Park. The interiors are cozy and very well articulated, perfect for a couple, small family or small group of friends. The full kitchen is a bonus. The information provided by Matt both online, via message, and in the handbook at the cottage were to the point. t pretty much covers all you need to know to have a great and comfortable stay. Parking within the property is neat and easy, and entry and exit is smooth (just make sure to follow the shared instructions). The outside deck is an added perk, to just gaze at the stars at night given the low light pollution, or enjoy your morning coffee to the musically choir of various rainforest birds. Couple of things to note: 1) The last 5 minutes of the roads leading up to the cottage is very rough gravel narrow paths. Drive Slow. In addition, because of that and nature of these roads (narrow/unmarked), would recommend reaching here before dark on day of arrival. 2) As rightly noted in the instruction, it does get quite chilly here. However, as long as you are prepared clothing wise and get a hang of using (or already know how to use) the wood stove, that should not be a problem, but still worth noting. Overall, this was a wonderful and fun stay, would stay again if opportunity comes. "

"Perfect for our stay at Volcano, thank you for upgrading us to a king room, it was comfortable, spacious and quiet. The contactless check in was easy, just pick up and envelope from the lobby with your room key and instructions. The help yourself towels, coffees and toiletries was a very nice touch. Overall we were delighted with our stay in Volcano and wouldnt hesitate to recommend."
