A great theme park as well as home to genuine and working film sets, Universal Studios Florida will take you on an adventure through the movies with its fun rides, its interactive adventures and its great shows.
Take a nostalgic journey back to the 50s with a visit to Lucy: A Tribute, an exhibit celebrating the legendary Lucille Ball. For a rather more up-to-date experience, you can go and shop in a replica version of the Kwik-E-Mart, Apu’s convenience store from The Simpsons. Then you can head far into the future at the Terminator 2: 3-D experience, and even check out the Horror Make-Up Show for some costume tips. You’ll find so much more from the movie world at the Hollywood backlot, one of six outdoor film sets across the park surrounding a lagoon.
Check out the San Francisco backlot, where you can go and find out more about the stunts and special effects from your favourite movies. Take a voyage on the Disaster! Ride for a thrill, or you could even get to be an extra on one of the sets.
Head for the New York backlot where among the treats you can enjoy is the Blues Brothers Show. Or for something a little faster get on the Revenge of the Mummy roller-coaster, an indoor ride that goes as fast as 72 kilometres per hour. Ramp up the speed at the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit which will turn you into a music video star while you travel at over 100 kilometres per hour.
Most of the attractions you’ll find at Universal Studios Florida are safely indoors. This is therefore an ideal spot to go and walk round when the weather is rainy or at the height of Orlando’s humid summers. The resort becomes rather more crowded in the spring break period, and opening hours change during high seasons so be sure to check what’s on before you pay a visit to make sure you don’t miss out.
