Epcot® has over one million square metres of space waiting to be explored, where you'll discover a whole new world of innovation and technology. Short for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, Epcot® is one of the four Walt Disney® theme parks and is split into two main areas: Future World which explores modern inventions, and World Showcase where you can discover more about cultures around the world.
Situated about 35 kilometres to the south west of downtown Orlando, the park attracts all kinds of visitors. As soon as you arrive, you’ll see the Future World area where you can board Spaceship Earth and take the 16-minute voyage through the history of communication. Among the other highlights in this section is Soarin' Around the World, which simulates a hang-gliding flight over some of the world's greatest sights.
For any budding young astronauts, the Mission: SPACE attraction simulates a space flight in a capsule heading all the way to Mars. One of Future World’s most popular rides meanwhile is the Test Track attraction, which gives you the chance to try and design your own high-performance car and try it out on a real testing ground.
When you head through to the World Showcase section of the resort, you’ll be able to explore 11 different countries, each of which has its own pavilion built around an idyllic lagoon. Here you will get the chance to sample that country’s cuisine and even find a souvenir from there to take back home.
Younger visitors will love the Seas with Nemo & Friends attraction, with its aquarium, amusement ride, and the Turtle Talk with Crush where you can have a chat with the turtle from the movie. Children can even make their own souvenirs to take home as a memento of the day from World Showcase.
With so much to see and do, a visit to Epcot® will take at least one full day. It’s best to arrive early or wait until later in the day to see popular attractions like Spaceship Earth which get very busy in the morning. If you want to stay a little longer then stay at one of the Walt Disney World® & Resort’s hotels, which will enable you to take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours benefit giving you more time before and after normal opening hours to get the most of your visit.
