One of the world-famous attractions that visitors from all over the world come to see and explore, Magic Kingdom is made up of six fantasy lands set across a large plot of land, and is home to all your favourite Disney characters. The attraction was the brainchild of Walt Disney himself and was opened in 1971. Since then it has become an iconic fixture of any family holiday to Florida, with visitors guaranteed an unforgettable time.
Throughout the Magic Kingdom you’ll get to see so much that will capture your imagination. Hang out with the cowboys at the saloons in Frontierland or see the amazing creatures holding court in the heart of the medieval Fantasyland, or visit the rather more contemporary American-style shops and cafés in the Main Street, USA area.
Elsewhere you can visit the jungles of Adventureland, or to travel through time you can step into the past back to the American Revolution at colonial-style Liberty Square before heading far into the future at Tomorrowland.
You’ll get to see parades passing beneath the towering Cinderella Castle through the day and firework shows held on most nights. Take a pirate cruise on the lagoon, go on a tour backstage, or have a haircut at the old-style barbershop. Or alternatively you can opt for an adrenaline rush by voyaging on the high speed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride.
The journey to Magic Kingdom itself is a fun ride that takes you around the park on a fast-moving monorail. Buses are available here as is the Staten Island-inspired ferry that was built specifically to carry visitors over the Seven Seas Lagoon.
The park is packed in the summer months when the Magic Kingdom is at its busiest, but the hours are extended at this time of year too, which is also when the special parades and events are held. Most rides and attractions have shaded areas where you can wait your turn – a blessing in the baking Orlando heat. But you can of course cool down by getting on one of the park’s water rides too.
