Situated between the dazzling waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Laguna Nichupte, the freshwater lagoon on which Cancun stands, Linda Beach is the perfect place for a spot of relaxation and the departure point for many charter boats that explore the region.
The sandy beach is popular with locals just as much as it is with the visitors who head here. It’s a busy spot, where you come to admire the view, and indulge in some people watching while lounging on the beach. The waters here are turquoise blue and pleasantly warm. However, located close to the city’s main marina, the waters can be dirty and dangerous due to the high levels of water traffic passing through.
Pay a visit to El Embarcadero, the busy marina precinct from which you can go dolphin spotting or take a trip across to Isla Mujeres. Here you can board a charter fishing boat or simply watch the fishermen unloading their catch in the afternoon.
When you come to Playa Linda, you really shouldn’t miss out on a trip to the top of La Torre Cancun, the famous rotating tower from which you can look out and enjoy stunning views of the city and the coastline. This is a truly worthwhile experience, and only for a small fee.
The area around the beach also houses some of the best hotels to be found in the city. Tourists come here in droves to soak up the thriving spirit and it’s the perfect location for venturing offshore.
Situated about five kilometres from the centre of Cancun, you can reach Playa Linda by bus or taxi. The beach is open all hours and doesn’t cost you to enter. If you want to drive here, you can pay to park at the marina.
