Stoke Beach House - Hostel
1.5 star property
8.8 out of 10, Excellent, (34)
"Lovely hostel in a great location -- especially enjoyed the curtained beds which made sleeping easy and great breakfast! Generally good cleanliness, although did see a cockroach in the hallway one evening. Also, the rooms did get really hot in the evening and it was hard to bring the temperature down, but if you don't mind a toasty room it wasn't too bad. "

"The staff at this property were super lovely. Professional and friendly. I was visiting for a family funeral and they showed so much compassion. It was a really lovely touch - a card, ice cream and chocolate was delivered to our room soon after arriving. A very kind and thoughtful action. Even on check out the other staff member on shift was equally lovely and professional. Although property is in Manly it is close enough to the Corso to walk but not in the hustle and bustle. Highly recommend! "

"The location is great, 1 block from the beach. There is no A/C. Ok for most days with a cool ocean breeze. Had a record hot spell for 2days, 85F and so a little warm at night"

"Loved the classic hostel feel and intense walkability and beach access. The facility needs some repairs, but if you're young and traveling and need an inexpensive place, perfect. It's loud, but no more so than any other hostel experience. I felt a bit too old to be there at 29, but then again I'm fairly low key and wasn't keen on the party life."

"Sadly, after staying here for some time, I am unable to get any response or feedback to my enquiries regarding the "deposit" for the room key. Notably the value of the deposit is below the interest of credit card companies and as such I feel I have lost or had stolen $30 for a key which was returned to the "returned key box" in reception. Granted a minor thing, but the weekly rate for this place kept increasing and for a property without A/C and very limiting facilities which needed...
