Grand Hotel Scarborough

"I have seen the reviews for the Scarborough Grand but thought it was worth trying it out for ourselves to see how accurate they were. I'm glad we did. Conveniently placed for both town and promenade with a handy safe 24 hour multi-storey car park just around the corner (£27 for 48 hours). The Scarborough Grand reception area is lovely and retains much of it's grandeur. The check in experience was one of only a few areas for improvement - we had checked in and paid online so expected the express check in option to be available as stated (ie just given the key) but it wasn't and we were stuck in a queue for 20 mins with a coach party so the online check-in was a complete waste of time. The room itself was absolutely fine - clean and tidy with a sea view and a good tv with nearly all channels available for a change on the East Yorkshire coast ! Only slight downers were the dirty windows and the hot water which took a while to heat up and was then a bit sporadic and not all that hot really. The bathroom was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable enough and clean and we both slept well. Morning breakfast was lovely and everything was kept topped up so no issues at all. The main bar area was perfectly fine but the outside balcony area was just about a no go area with the strong winds. We will be back to try a Family Room with our Grandchildren at Halfterm. Overall our experience was much better than 2.4/5 - more 4 to 4.5/5 but may very well be room/area specific qnd so variable."

"Location was excellent, sea view was amazing, and parking was very easy. Rebecca on reception was SO helpful. The room was really small though. Would stay again, but would make sure I had a bigger room. Didn't eat there as breakfast was too late for me, and for some reason the dining room wasn't open in the evening."

Ample parking at the rear of the building. Good choice of evening meal, only sorry we weren't there on Sunday for the carvery. Great location in a beautiful small village. Would recommend and stay again."
