"Great Location, Simple but Sweet Room and Service "
Me and my girlfriend have stayed at the Hotel Internationaal 3 times now. Obviously the great location stays the same, however, the room size and facilities can change a lot depending on which room you are given when you arrive (we've stayed in 3 different rooms). For the price I would say this cannot be beaten and is perfect for anyone who mainly needs to use the hotel as a home base, it is close to the train station and pretty much everything else as well. We'll definitely be staying there again!

"Budget hotel in party central"
My partner and I spent two nights here (Mon & Tues) in February. Not the busiest time in Amsterdam for tourism, but still, the Rembrantsplein bars were hopping until 3 or 4 a.m. We had a front room looking out over the plaza - great views, but the noise will make it hard for light sleepers. Rooms are tiny, but clean and beds are comfortable enough. Shared bathrooms on our floor were spotless; sink in room. Hotel staff were uniformly friendly and courteous, and gave us some great recommendations for local eats and entertainment. Breakfast is served a couple doors down, the standard continental breakfast, but starts late (9am). The coffeeshop below closes early compared to the discos, but the smell lingers on. Perfect location for those who come to Amsterdam to party, or Americans who don't want to change over their sleep schedule. Unbeatable for the price and location. Not for those daunted by stairs, noise, or the smell of marijuana.

"Good location and price"
Overall good value for money in a good location. Nothing fancy but if you aren't the type to spend a lot of time in your room you don't need it. Can be a bit noisy at night so be aware of that. I was concerned about the shared bathroom - but over 4 days found I only had to wait twice - which is about how often I have to wait at home- and the bathroom was very clean. Pro tip - if you are walking from the train station you won't see the overhang that is in the picture - the entrance is on the side street. In the picture - that space is now a very cute cafe that makes excellent coffee.

Townhouse Hotel

"OK Hotel on Prinzengracht"
I chose this hotel because it was the cheapest place I could find that was located reasonably close to the major sites in Amsterdam but that still had a private bathroom. My room was clean and comfortable, although the walls were thin as I could hear everything going on in the other hotel rooms on the floor as well as in the adjacent building. The staff were all very friendly, particularly the cleaning staff who helped me find my room when I went to the wrong building (some rooms are in two other buildings separate from the hotel lobby). The hallways in my building appeared to be under renovation so there was a lot of dust on the bottom two floors, with dustmats placed along the stairwell. One major downside is that the hotel did not supply soap or shampoo in the bathroom. Overall, an ok hotel if you want a bed and private bathroom and want to be in a reasonably central location. However, while Amsterdam is expensive, there are probably better value hotels out there.

"Lovely warm central hotel, close to all amenities."
I stayed here for the third time for 2 nights from 15-17th November. Room 29 on the first floor had a lovely view of the Damrak, a great place for people watching. Although the room was small, it was clean and comfortable. An ideal base to explore this beautiful city.
